A friend of my boyfriend owns New Holland brewery and keeps Dragon's Milk on tap. In his house.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I've ever had the Kellerweis

I will say this, Kellerweis does not compare to Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier but it is probably the best example of an American German Style Hefeweizen. Probably a B+ of a beer and it is also very reasonably priced as all SN beers are. Now it probably won't compare to Live Oak either.

Out of curiosity what do you think of Sierra Nevada Kellerweis?

Allagash White is a Belgian wheat so it is slightly different from a German hefeweizen. Though it is very good and worth trying.

The Reinheitsgebot was created for a reason.

Franziskaner is my jam but Weihenstephaner, Paulaner, Erdinger, and Hacker-Pschorr are all in the category of "Best drink on God's earth."

Ah, I have such a soft spot in my heart for Franziskaner. The Hacker-Pschorr Dunkelweizen is so damn good.

This Super Tuscan is much better than I anticipated. Fruit forward, lighter in body, and less cherry than I'm used to with Sangiovese. Pretty good for an every day drinker.

I agree that Kellerweis is a solid B+. All the good things that SN beers are.

Have any of you tried Victory Moon Glow? It's a wiezenbock. I think it's really good. Of course, Weihenstephaner hefe weisbier is really really nice, there's no denying.

Nothing in the world other than politics like reading about drinking dirt from a glass.

Saw this on Thrillist; they published the bill from a farewell party Washington's troops threw him in 1787, just days before he and the Founding Fathers of the Constitutional Convention finished their business. According to the story, the party was held at Philadelphia's City Tavern. GW and 54 of his cronies consumed the following in one (presumably long) night:

54 bottles of Madeira
60 bottles of claret
22 bottles of porter
12 bottles of beer
8 bottles of hard cider
8 bottles of Old Stock (a.k.a. colonial whiskey)
7 large bowls of spiked punch

So, as you can see, we do stand on the shoulders of giants.

Kona Brewing Co. Aloha Series. Tastes like coffee.

Then a Dangerous Man growler of the choc milk stout while I crush fools in Cranium and Tabooze tonight.

I like your "crushing fools" odds better in the early part of the evening than when the night winds down....

Coronado Stingray IPA.

N: A fruit salad with papaya, pineapple, melon, peach, and tangerines.
P: Starts with some pineapple, melon and tangerine, then some grapefruit arrives followed by orange rind and grapefruit rind bitterness. A touch of piney bitterness as well.
F: Mostly grapefruit, and grapefruit and orange rind bitterness. Some piney bitterness lingers.

A very enjoyable IPA, the nose is really sweet and it starts sweet on the palate before the bitterness kicks in. To me it is a solid 88-91 but at the cost of $12 for 6 pack it is a little more expensive than I would like.

Saturday night was Gulden Draak Brewmaster's Edition (aged in whiskey barrels), along with Chicago-style deep dish pizza:

Can you honestly say you deserve such good fortune?

ps -- that's a nice-looking crust -- looks chewy, but not underdone (this coming from a guy who tends to non-deep dish).

I cannot; was just lucky enough to marry well. Yet another reason why no recruit should ever turn down a Notre Dame offer. The wife material in South Bend is second to none.

That's been the real sticking point. The crust has tended to burn before the pizza is fully done. Foiling the crust like a pie did the trick this time.

Excellent, though I have a slight preference for the normal version. The extra finishing on this edition made it boozier, which obscured some of the original's subtlety.

Anybody try Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin yet? Been trying to find it around here, but I'm not sure if MI will be in the distribution area for it. LOVE the grapefruit sculpin and I don't even like grapefruit. I imagine that the pineapple will be the bee's knees.

2013 Produttori del Barbaresco Nebbiolo. Really is opening up with some air. Red fruit on the tongue. Rose petal aromas. Pretty good and a great way to prepare myself for the next bottle.

Seghesio 2010 Barolo. Never had one. Took two hours of decanting and it's still opening up. Damn I'm a believer. This is supposed to be a legendary vintage and I can see why.
