There are a few teams that always seem to play "up" to ND. IMHO, USC is one of them. If USC plays well and ND plays well, they will give us some fits for the first 3/8th's of the game.
From the only USC game I have watche and reading limited "de-briefings", they will likely come up very short on both the offensive and defensive lines.
When/if this happens, they will need to rely on their running game and short yardage (slants) passes. I am confident that our DB's and LB's are up to the challenge.
On D, I think our line gives them fits, If LB's fill the gaps like the first few games there will be nowhere to go. Gilman and company do the rest.
With our ever-better OL, two tight ends and emerging running game, a struggling USC DL is going to have their work cut out. We have a lot of depth at WR and they have comparative advantages. USC has great backs but I do not think they have encountered a team with our diversity, depth and talent. I don't think they will be able to adjust "on the fly".
Head scratcher in the first half but never in doubt. We control the game in the second half.
Bold prediction... ND by 17.
Cheers and Go Irish!!
