According to CMDR Kirk Lippold, former commander U.S. Cole, speaking on Fox from a studio, noted there is gate security where I.D. is required. The driver can vouch for passengers in the vehicle but there are random spot checks of passengers.
There are also additional internal security points throughout the building as there is classified ship design done at this location.
The CMDR conjectured that this was a planned attack rather than a random act.
Would this fall under the category of a terrorist attack?
They are skirting discussion on that by saying no known motive.
The police chief gave her statement then said she'd take 3 questions. One question asked if the descriptions came from eyewitnesses. The chief declined to provide the source.
I don't recall in the past hearing of any employee going "postal" that had accomplices.
Yes I work in lots of secured facilities. This does appear to be coordinated. There are typically lots of redundancies regarding badging and access to the compound and secured areas. They are skirting discussion on that by saying no known motive.

didn't the shooter in DC several years back recruit his step-son. I'm talking about the guy who was randomly targeting people around DC and had everyone looking for someone driving a white van.
Yes, but that wasn't a disgruntled employee or former employee going back to the office to get even with the boss or co-workers, "going postal".
IF there are multiple shooters, and that's still unconfirmed, that would constitute a conspiracy be it internal or external.

I don't work for SPAWAR but I have worked at their facilities plus the Charleston Naval Weapons Station, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (DOHS) and the Department of State Passport facility, which are all located near the former Charleston Navy Base.Do you work at SPAWAR in Charleston, by any chance? They'd probably have extremely similar security procedures to NAVSEA in DC.
From my experience as a contractor at secure military and other Government facilities, I don't see how someone possibly could've gotten these weapons in without inside help or severe incompetence like I've never witnessed from security personnel. I'm struggling to wrap my head around this.
I get your point, but are we sure that is the case here -- even with the employee they have identifiied?
A gunman suspected in the killing 12 people at a Navy building in Washington Monday morning has been identified as Aaron Alexis, 34, a Navy veteran from New York, Fox News has learned.
Alexis, who was discharged from the Navy within the last few years after serving hitches in Texas and Illinois, sprayed bullets from the third or fourth floor down to an open area in the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters in southeast Washington in an attack that began just after 8 a.m. He was later killed as he traded shots with responding police.

Alexis, 34, of New York, was a Navy aviation electrician's mate, third class, who spent time in Texas and Illinois. It was not immediately clear when he left the Navy. While stationed in Fort Worth, he was arrested on Sept. 4, 2010, after an upstairs neighbor reported that he had fired shots up into her apartment. The neighbor said Alexis had often angrily confronted her about making too much noise, and she told police he scared her.
"[The neighbor] told me that she is terrified of Aaron and feels that this was done intentionally," the arresting officer wrote on the police report.
What a world we live in, where having a conflict in your own mind justifies killing innocent people. Now i know im assuming the man had mental health issues but this is ridiculous that this is starting to happen on a regular basis

In 2004 he was arrested in Seattle for shooting out the tires of a construction worker's car in an incident he later described as "an anger-fueled blackout."
He also told Seattle police he had witnessed the Sep. 11, 2001 terrorist attack and "how these events had disturbed him," according to a police report.
Alexis' father told police in 2004 his son had participated in rescue efforts during 9/11 and had suffered post traumatic stress disorder. This could not be independently confirmed.
He had two prior shooting incidents associated with anger issues, in '04 and in '10.

Alexis was discharged after a "pattern of misconduct," a U.S. defense official, with knowledge of the investigation, told CNN on condition of anonymity. The official did not detail the misconduc
Yeah i just read that, but my big question is how can someone justify killing innocent people because they are angry? Its just hard for me to understand no matter how crazy you are that that seems like a logical step.
