I have 526. You're the first I've met with more. Do you have any super rare games? Bubble Bath Babes?
My buddy got me into collecting the games around 2000 when he was finishing his list. I just wanted a few games I used to play as a kid, and it grew from there. He actually had one of the California Raisins prototypes at one time, but sold his collection off around 2005.Yes, and no. I have a reproduction of it, so it's not an original. As far as other neat stuff, I've got an Action 52, all the Aladdin Deck Enhancer stuff /w games, a pretty nice Cheetahmen 2 that's still sealed, another reproduction of either Hot Slots or Peekaboo Poker (I'd have to go digging through, been awhile), Tengen Tetris, and a Caltron 6 in 1. That's some of the rarer stuff I remember having off the top of my head. I haven't gone out looking for new additions in a few years. I've got a bunch of other neat things too, some of which isn't as rare, like the Power Glove, Stack Up parts, and a complete ROB Robot. I've also got a Play Choice 10 Arcade in the garage /w some extra game ROMs I can switch out.
I prefer to find games out in the wild when I go looking, like at garage sales or flea markets. Theres a few times where I've broken down and Ebay'd a game because I just couldn't find it in my area. Mega Man 5 was one of those games, for some reason...it eluded me for years and was the last one I needed to complete the series. I finally broke down and just bought it online. Someday I wouldn't mind picking up a rare prototype, but I'll probably have to wait many years until the kids are out of the houseMy buddy got me into collecting the games around 2000 when he was finishing his list. Wow, you're doing quite well with the rarer stuff. I've bid on Cheetahman 2 before but I don't have the balls to tell my wife that the 500 dollar expense on our bank account is for a 25 year old, 8-bit video game, so I dont ever win one. I've bought two different Aladdin sets and couldn't get either to work so I still don't have that. I'm with you on garage sales, there's nothing better than finding rare stuff for a buck or 2. I found a box one time with a complete Earthbound, complete Chrono Trigger, all the SNES Final Fantasy games complete, and a dozen or so other games for 35 bucks. I could barely contain my excitement when I paid the guy, and I felt guilty as I drove away, but man was that a find!! I also love finding top loader NES for a few bucks. Well, I'm happy to meet someone who's as big a nerd as me. Good luck with your collection.
I've seen them go for 10x that in some auctions now, which is bizarre. The Cheetahmen 2 is the only rare game I have that's still boxed, I opened everything else up in my younger days because I said I'd never sell the collection...plus you can't finish the game at all without cheating because they never fully tested it
It's getting more tempting to sell the collection as I have kids now and the prices keep going up. The Caltron 6 in 1 is a pretty hard find too. I did find that one in the wild at a flea market, couldn't believe the luck. I'd love to have a Myriad 6 in 1, they're even harder to find than the Caltron because theres only about 100 of them known to exist I think. It's been awhile, but I THINK that the Aladdin sets won't work unless you remove the lockout chip on your NES. You don't actually remove the lockout chip, but you remove the 7th pin on it if I recall. Then again, I could have it all backwards...you might need the lockout chip operation, it's been too long. A lot of 3rd parties had lockout chip bypasses to get past Nintendo. I've always had to keep two different NES systems to run all my games, a top loader, and a modified toaster.
I
I didn't get my Cheetahmen 2 in the wild unfortunately, I bought that one on Ebay. It's a rare find anyway though, so I had to jump on the chance when I saw it. I picked it up for $200 back in the day, only a few years out of high schoolI've seen them go for 10x that in some auctions now, which is bizarre. Wish I wasn't too busy getting laid and playing sports.......
LOL.
By the way, the new Batman series is awsome.
Man, I wish I would've known that back in the day. I messed with that deck enhancer for a long time to no avail. I've got enough NES systems to try something like that, thanks for the info. And I know what you mean about selling off. Between NES, SNES, and Genesis I've got 6 big plastic tubs worth thousands of dollars sitting in the closet that I haven't been able to bring myself to sell, and I'm not sure why. My boys are 4 & 2 and I think part of the reason I keep them is so they Can see how games were when dad was their age. I don't know. Anyways, I can't believe you Got a Cheetahman2 for 200 bucks, that's a steal, and good luck with Caltron but Ive never even seen one of those. That's gonna be a tough one.

I went back and played Simon's Quest about 5 years ago. I remembered it being one of my favorite games from my childhood. But upon replaying it 20 years later I wonder how and the hell I ever beat that game without Google. You've got to randomly throw potions at dead ends among other parts way too tricky for a 30 year old man. But anyways, this is a great thread. I love going back and replaying my nes, snes, and genesis from time to time. Here's a few of my thoughts....
-Friday the 13th was terrible.
-Taboo was ....? I cant believe that some people paid 40 bucks for that game.
-Toe Jam and Earl (the first one), I am the master of. Outstanding game.
-Aerobiz and most Koei games are awesome.
-Chrono Trigger does have fantastic music.
-I loved sniffing for alchemy ingredients in Secret of Evermore.
-Civilization II, III, IV. (Haven't played 5)
-Zelda, Final Fantasy, Metroid, Kid Icarus, etc....
Ok, I'm going to get my NES.

I was unstoppable. I'd actually like to play it again to see how bad the graphics were haha
