Always blows my mind that this dude played RB for a blue blood when I hear his voice. He spits the truth here, though.
I remember googling him when he used to host “Pros vs Joes” bc I had no idea who he was and then was FLOORED when I found out he played the same position at the same time school as Reggie Bush and OJ.

He played when SC was arguably their lowest. He his family has a long history w/ SC football. He may have originally been a walk-on IIRC. Was basically a short yardage RB/FB that was able to bird dog some TDs near the goal line

Don't doubt that he was a legit player. He just sounds more like the wiseass behind the counter at your local Greek deli.

Did they change the Week 0 rules? USC isn't playing an international game and they aren't playing at Hawaii, how are they able to play week 0?
this is just follow up spin so that it makes it seem like USC has this genius 0 week strategy and not that it was a hail mary attempt that wasn't really expected to work. this will quietly fizzle out because no one in the media (or even their fans) really gives a shit if they play stanford or cal in week 0

B1G10 Media Days, July 2024.

Don't let this little bitch off the hook.

The Big Ten schedule will be difficult enough to manage for USC and head coach Lincoln Riley, and there is speculation the Trojans could discontinue the annual meeting with Notre Dame, which is still independent, to accommodate a different non-conference opponent.

Still, Riley says that he hopes to see the rivalry continue.

"I would love to," Riley said Wednesday at Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis. "I know it means a lot to a lot of people. The purist in you, no doubt. Now, if you get in a position where you've got to make a decision on what's best for SC to help us win a national championship versus keeping that, shoot, then you've got to look at it.

"Listen, we're not the first example of that. Look all the way across the country. There's been a lot of teams that sacrifice rivalry games. I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, but as we get into this playoff structure and if it changes or not, we get into this new conference, we're going to learn some about this as we go and what the right and best track is to winning a national championship. That's going to evolve."

Danton Lynn seems like a loss for them. And to a fellow Big Ten team. You hate to see it.

This is akin to my 5 year old daughter asking me for some Xmas cookies and getting upset when I did not give her 50. Granted, she is 5 and understanding subtleties is not her strength. Apparently Lincoln is similar. Biggest difference is that she fights back when her older brothers push her around instead of crying about it.

Sampson going to bat for USC over "anytime, anywhere"

ND beat doing ND beat things

Where was this? I would love to read it and see what his argument is as it's counter to everything he's said on both the II and Independent podcasts.

Are you sure you aren't mistaking the USC writer for The Athletic that shows up on ND feeds because it's a ND related topic?

Edit: nevermind I assume it's this tweet:

Lincoln Riley is a bigger cunt than I originally thought. Too big of a bitch to stay at Oklahoma after they announced the SEC move, now this. Never thought I'd see the day id have more respect for Keyshawn Johnson than another person, but here we are.

The BYU move by Bevacqua gives me a lot of faith there is a “grand plan” with the ACC whining we aren’t privy too yet. Could have easily been pantsed and had a better opponent ready to go.

Its also indicative that ND didnt trust USC. They had an agreement before and moved stuff around to accommodate. Then USC came back in at the last moment and essentially asked ND to do the impossible, which they knew ND would say no.

Pete, I am guessing, had a contingency plan given the lack of prior commitment from USC. It was prudent and frankly, a likely upgrade given Riley.

This is just two versions of a PR campaign from each school.

Yes ND clearly wanted game cancelled, game replaced with equal opponent back to back. That was our statement. ND later would rely on Aurerbach’s report on the MOU to combat USC.

USC has battled this via that LA Times reporter + Riley today. Their statement is “we tried, blame ND” and clearly they aren’t gonna schedule a tough replacement so that will likely come later.

Ross Dellenger said this previously to the idea of the above quote about scheduling BYU so quickly:

“I think Notre Dame in the end thought that USC just didn’t want to play the game in general and so they just kind of moved on and they schedule BYU”
