If USC hires Campbell is that enough for Williams to flip from ND? That's all I care about the HC impact that it has on CJ Williams. Other than that USC is down and as long as they are down as a program they can keep being kicked.

Doubtful. His offense is more balanced and general leans toward the ground game.

Ok figured we needed to revisit this.... Who are they going to real in? Does the QB recommit? I hate to say it but CJ is gone.... What else we looking at?

Lincoln Riley isn't a full nightmare hire for a Fighting Irish fan, but it's significantly better than say, James Franklin.

I can't imagine anyone who's a bigger nightmare hire for us than Lincoln Riley - look at the talent that he's brought from Southern California to Norman Oklahoma. I'm scared lol.

I think it's about as bad as it can get for Notre Dame.

Disagree.

USC will be back to sign whatever QB/RBs/WRs they want territory, that’s for sure.

Lincoln’s offenses have been built though on not just QB play, also OL. So how many Texas, national kids can get import to SoCal will be the question. And of course defense. I wouldn’t 100% assume his USC teams are as good or better than OU has been. So the USC game will certainly be tougher from here out, but I’m also not assuming we’re playing the Death Star annually yet

I mean, it's Oklahoma...

They always recruit well, especially the skill talent.

Gotta imagine they're flipping Raleek Brown, Jake Taylor, Malachi Nelson, Deandre Moore, and Makai Lemon

Oh, and CJ Williams

Lincoln is also gonna get neg recruited the shit out of if he tries to go into Texas for his OL/D. Texas and Texas A&M are gonna beat the Lincoln scared of SEC football drum to death

Really good hire, but he's not a West Coast guy and his defenses are consistently terrible. Will spice things up but all there base are still belong to us.

so if they look like his OU teams they'll be good on offense, bad on defense, win their weak conference, and lose in the playoffs.

An improvement over the current iteration of USC but not any better than the current iteration of ND.

We'll need to get better but all signs (to me anyway) indicate we are.

Even in their presently pitiful state, they've not been far off that. Getting more 5-star offensive skill guys isn't gonna fix what's wrong with that program.

Exactly. SC is soft. They need a culture rebuild, and then to start recruiting great linemen on both sides of the ball.

I'm sure they'll get the usual "Struggling Blue Blood Hires a Hot New Coach" boost for a while, but unless Riley has hidden talents we haven't seen yet, they'll get punched in the mouth by the first real defense they face and promptly fold. That happens a few times, the shine wears off, and Riley ends up like Lane Kiffin.

He should get them competing for conference titles regularly again, mostly because the PAC-12 is hot garbage, but I'm not convinced Riley is the cure for what ails the Trojans.

Pete Carroll had to cheat his ass off and pump his linemen with juice to get SC playing for titles. Riley isn’t a cheater, at least that I’m aware of, so that’s good.

He’ll get more out the program then Helton could have for sure but I don’t see them competing for championships any time soon.

On a side note, my OK buddy is pissed. Lol. Saying Riley is scared of the SEC. He was my college roommate the year that Stoops won it all and that shit got old real quick.

I’m honestly surprised,… knowing both schools and cities well you’d have to pay me a shit ton more money to make this jump. Like, generational money

I'm sure USC is desperate enough to make that a reality

If he sets up his staff and his recruiting strategy correctly, he shouldn’t have to leave LA County to fill most of his needs or at least the state of Cali. Not saying he won’t recruit in SEC country but I doubt losing a recruit b/c of negative recruiting is going to prevent him from succeeding.

But he has to leave the area if he’s going to build good lines.

I’m far from a recruitnik but I know Pete Carroll & staff plucked plenty of highly rated recruits from California along their OL/DL during his reign. Maybe that’s changed as there’s zero OL/DL recruits in Cali but I find that hard to believe. Regardless, I don’t think negatively recruiting w/ the “Riley didn’t want that SEC smoke” is a deal breaker for recruits the way it is for fans.

It has changed. I believe someone did an article about college prospects average weight of CA kids has dropped slowly over time. Meanwhile they are only getting bigger elsewhere.

Just looking at ‘22 kids on the 247 composite (so hardly comprehensive) California’s top three OL are #47, #553, and #591 overall.

CJs teammate Raleek basically already flipped. His CB predictions are lighting up like a Christmas tree

This is interesting. Wonder why that is the case…?

Jim Hill on CBSLA during his postgame NFL show had Bill Plashke from the LA Times and another local recruiting guy on 30 minutes ago. All claim to have been on the phone with kids who are now planning to flip their commitments to USC. Take it for what it is worth. LOL!

Seems like Riley is now the new pretty girl in school out here that everyone wants to date. Chip Kelly was that way and now at 5-7 is an afterthought.

With where ND’s program is at, this isn’t the end of the world but it most certainly is a fantastic hire that will immediately improve the program.

Nah Chip Kelly was that when he made the jump to the NFL. By the time he got to UCLA he was the girl that used to be hot but got worn down has a reputation for getting pounded by all the dudes on campus
