Worth noting that USC is power rated around ~10 on most sites. This was a very impressive performance that we probably won’t get enough credit for unless the Trojans somehow beat Oregon in the road. Sucks for us they blew that Illinois game.

'Held' is the nice term. the SC Oline grabbed heads and necks wrastlin style when they got beat.
I know ND isnt a great pass rushing team but I assume a lot of holding was being let go. Which wouldnt bother me if the officials were letting the defense play too...but they werent.

No, stop being elitist. The fans didn't throw anything. They didn't try to fight the players. The wished a heartfelt goodbye to a rival. The whole "we're better than that" is what made Notre Dame Stadium a library for 20 years.

You think the students weren't talking ish in '77?
Not to pile on to the OP, but this is absolutely spot on as long as it’s in within those parameters.

I’m assuming the “we’re better than that” crowd is of the older collection of ND fans that got to watch Lou shit talk, ND absolutely bully opponents and literally fight Miami in the tunnel, but we can’t V down USC and tell them to (respectfully) fuck off?

Especially considering the following in regard to USC:
- Chad Bowden subtly taking public shots at Freeman and the program all offseason
- Lincoln Riley, USC brass and their beat completely disregarding Notre Dame as a 100-year rival, gaslighting us for the past 9 months that it is “our fault” the rivalry is ending and that we “need” USC
- before the game, there’s a video showing USC players shit talking those fans in that exact section and they continued to go at that portion of the crowd every kickoff toward that endzone. Add in the end of game scuffle that allegedly started with USC players

Us mid-30’s and below grew up falling in love with ND during some of the worst years of ND football and attended the wine and cheese stadium days, where you could get removed for standing up.

God forbid we take on a bit of the personality and tenacity of our head coach and team to make it a bit harder place to play at!

Tough for the ND isn’t tougher, they just committed penalties contingent of USC fans:

Man, I'm so tired of USC fans still crying about flags. It's like they just sat down with a notebook notating every potential missed call (only against them of course). Could they have called more flags on ND? I'm sure, there's a penalty on every play, but my word they could have called holding on every play on USC's OL basically the entire second half.

Yeah man, this is football, not chess club. I totally agree. There's a line between legitimately out of bounds behavior and having an edge. For how long did we complain about ND Stadium being a museum? I want the energy and all of the smoke. I want everyone to hate us and to hate playing in South Bend.

I don’t mind us getting our licks back but I always find it more satisfying to just walk away & say “scoreboard”. Now the USC program and their fans deserve every bit of shit that gets talked to them after this game. I haven’t seen the full videos to know if the USC players started it all but I’m just not a fan of instigating it in the moment. Let those pieces of shit start it then throw the down V in their face. Let them throw the first cheap shot then beat the shit out of them. Let our program be Ricky Steamboat & let them be the heel who gets put down in the end.

Maybe so, but they let us get away with a blatant, obvious, and play-affecting hold on the Jadarian Price kick return.
Ehhh it wasn’t blatant or obvious. It was a clean block, the USC player starts turning and the ND player starts to disengage. Thats a fast play and wouldn’t be mad if it happened to us.

Now the blatant miss of the intentional grounding? The insane DPI calls that aided scores? Those were bad calls.

I was in section 102 row 4. And you are correct usc players were instigating the fans in the back of endzone every chance they got.

Not overturning the Fields replay catch with heel in first? Just want one of those close ones go our way.

Refs missed two egregious penalties on Loves first long run of the game. Lambert literally tackles his man from behind around the waist right in the hole, and the guy next time, presumably knapp has his hand on his mans facemask and twists his helmet around on his head. Its almost impossible to miss the Lambert hold but they did.

Yeah that was definitely a missed call. No argument there.

Don’t care if we got away with a missed hold after last play of A&M game and don’t give a shit if our fans get rowdy after listening to people bitch about the old guard sitting on their hands all game for years.

Eh, there’s rowdy and there’s trashy. Flashing “fight off” and booing them out is rowdy. Leaning over the railing and yelling in their face is trashy. Especially when these fans look older than the athletes. Same vibes as the kid who put his phone in Caleb William’s face two years ago.

Cancel me all you want, just an opinion and I’m not going to die on it
