I like soccer, especially international soccer, but it is crazy to me that anyone would be watching USA/Guatemala with this basketball game going on.

USA has not been playing well but you take a W anyway you can in a hostile environment like this. I love Fabian Johnson by the way. He isn't even healthy and to me looks the best only behind Dempsey and Howard tonight.

Dempsey is the best player on the USMNT. Get used to it ladies and gents. I almost hope he doesn't move to a bigger club because he won't be a guaranteed starter there week in and week out. I understand his desire to play in the CL though, so I certainly don't hold it against him.

I like our 4-3-3 setup because we have some options off the bench as well, most notably Torres who is left out of this because he's not exactly an out and out winger, more of an AM.

ST:Jozy/Gomez/Boyd
LW:Dempsey
RW:Lando

CM:Bradley. Jones
CDM:Edu

LB:Castillo
CB:Boca, Cameron
RB:Cherundolo

GK:Howard

And what the ****, right while I was typing that.

We have 300 million people, I refuse to believe we can't be better. The Dutch have 15 million, there are more bikes in the Netherlands! ****in' 'ell USA!

Simply disagree about Castillo. Johnson has been the best defender in my opinion

Edit: nvm I didn't realize he was playing more defensive mid

82nd minute... ugh...

I too can't believe this nation can't produce better quality than this... even if it is our fifth or sixth most popular sport... we should eat many nations alive from a simple numbers perspective... seems our team has actuall taken a step back since Klinsmann took over...

oh well, at least they managed the draw.

Results wise that's absolutely true, but he's having us play more continental, as opposed to the hoof and hope that has been the standard model in the U.K./Ireland. We simply aren't ready to jump into that and it's going to take time for our players to become accustomed to it. Clint Dempsey, our best player, plays for Fulham. We don't have a truly world-class player or someone who has extensive experience at the highest level doing what Jurgen wants us to.

Our youth system is set up to be a pay to play with too much focus on winning and a long ball mentality. When the onus is on winning the creative juices and technical ability go to the back burner in favor of results. Kids pay to play in the U.S. when at the age of 6,7,8,9 these kids could be getting into proper academies and developed by seasoned coaches. Our system is totally ****ed and I hope that was the reason Jurgen wanted full control, so he could revamp it.

Also, Claudio Reyna sees this and is trying to force some standards on developmental programs/academies that want to be affiliated with U.S. Soccer. So hopefully in twenty years or so,maybe a little earlier, we can expect some increased success.

Disagree. We have gotten a point in 8 of the last 9 and that includes 6 wins, including over Italy(FIFA rank 12), Scotland(5-1)(FIFA Rank 41), Slovenia(FIFA Rank 30), Venezuela(FIFA Rank 40)and the loss was only to Brazil, where if we had a few bounces go are way the game was 3-2 or ever closer instead of 4-1(the PK they had wasn't a handball, we hit post a few times, keeper made an amazing save, stuff like that). Klinsmann knows what he is doing, and this team looks better than with Bradley as coach.

Donovan was horrible last night by the way. he was completely nonexistent out there. People need to get used to Dempsey being our greatest player.

I have been saying Dempsey is the greatest American ever for a few years now... agree to disagree then on Bradley vs. Klinsmann... at least at this point... the game that seemed to be won on bounces was the Italy game imo... Brazil was a beatdown... in fairness so was Scotland too... now we go to Mexico city??? ugh, I guess we will both find out where this team is really at quick enough.
