What does Brian Kelly have to do with anything being talked about?

Lots of people still watched FSU games. You not watching them has nothing to do with viewing habits of others, nor what you consider "suck[ing]." FSU didn't "suck."

If one were to do a blind test based on resumes, 100 out of 100 people would pick Fisher's resume (well, maybe 99 out of 100-- perhaps you'd be more impressed with what Malzahn was doing at Hughes, Shiloh Christian and Sprindale High than what Fisher was doing at, you know, Auburn, Cincinnati, LSU, and FSU).

As I said, I won't say for certain that FSU will win the game. If they lose, it definitely won't be because of Fisher's lack of big game experience or lack of results in big time college football.

SOOO, either Auburn and ND were BOTH dumpster fires, or not.

And I was just pointing out the fact that Chizik won all three of his bowl games in his first three years, as opposed to BK, who has won just one of his first three. A comparison for comparison's sake.

And nobody was watching the Semiholes outside of Florida. And while you scoff at what Malzahn did in HS, I think his success in such a short time at the NCAA level just goes to show you how good a coach he is.

Not like he was not coveted by Houston Nutt and the University of Arkansas, or anything.....

The guy is a legit teacher, which is exactly what coaching is. Malzahn is every bit the coach that Fisher is....and the ACC has been and always will be a joke of a conference in football, until the Canes get their sh!t together and Clemson can actually win more than one big game every five years--with or without ND in the mix for the foreseeable future, the ACC is an atrocious conference in football. FSU has been a paper tiger for years, because everyone knows how terrible ACC football is...which likely had more than a little to do with the Irish signing their deal with the ACC.

So, maybe Fisher is a better coach than I think, but I simply do not think that you can discount what Malzahn has been able to do at the NCAA level in just five years.

I'm tempted to say that FSU will crush Auburn. Florida State reminds me of 'Bama ... tough and disciplined all over the field, on both sides of the ball.

But Auburn beat 'Bama this year.

So I don't know.

Everyone knocked tOSU and their schedule... they played a much better schedule up to now than FSU... I still think FSU could be a total mirage... who knows?

Yep, I totally agree. FSU passes the eye test, but as any frequent reader of this site knows (thanks to Whiskey), the eye test doesn't mean much. I really have no idea.

I've never seen them as disciplined. They don't even rank in the top 50 teams in least penalties. I have always thought that they just play a "street ball" brand of football and out-talent their opponents.

They have, at a minimum, 8 guys on defense that should eventually go in the first round of the NFL draft. That's why they are good, imo.

Despite what win/loss totals say i also don't buy Auburn at all either... I think if FSU wins they had the easiest road to it since 84 BYU... and I'm not tyring to hate on them, maybe they are great... but they won't have to prove it once all year, not even in the title game. Unless you count Clemson I suppose... that was impressive.

That is the "FSU way" summed up perfectly in one statement... going back to the late 80's to now... Think of the 93 team... or Dion's teams... when they are good,... that's why.

If FSU handles Auburn (wins by 21+), then by the logic that the ess ee cee is this Herculean juggernaut, FSU should go down as one of the best teams...ever. They will have blown out every team they've faced, will have beaten sec stalwart Florida by 30, and beaten the sec champ by 21+. Don't know if I buy it personally, but there's definitely an argument.



It's tough for me to buy Auburn in this game. I keep going back to the fact that the 2 teams that played for their championship won a combined 2 conference games last year, with Big XII also-ran accounting for both.

In addition to not watching FSU play, you obviously didn't watch that team play any either then. They needed a miracle finish to beat Utah State. At home. To a man, every single Auburn fan I know (which is a lot) was extremely disappointed in that team, and in fact, considered their own beloved, "a dumpster fire.". They counted their blessings they won it all the year before and even were able to qualify for a bowl game that year. On top of that, they were ready to get rid of Chizik, Malzahn, and the whole lot.

True, they are more physical and more athletic man for man than their opponents, and that's likely the primary reason for their success. But in D-I FBS football you can't crush everyone you play just by being more athletic. If you could, USC would have been winning games the last couple years. Penalties notwithstanding, I still think they are basically a disciplined team. A well-coached team like Miami would have threatened them, otherwise.

And yes I watched that season because I was back in the USA by then, and since my sister went to Auburn, I have followed the team for a while now. I never heard a word about getting rid of Malzahn, Chizik et al. until the NEXT year. IF they really wanted to get rid of Malzahn, would they have brought him back? That is the reason that FANS do NOT run teams, because they would make terrible GMs, ADs, etc.

By the way, did FLA fans want to get rid of Muschamp after they nearly lost to an FCS team at home and needed blocked punt to win? No. Do they want to get rid of him NOW because they DID lose to an FCS team? Yeah.

You initially said, in a manner presented as group-think fact, that nobody thought FSU defense was better than Alabama's. I do.

Then you went on to say that you felt Auburn would win because Gus has more big game experience than Jimbo. I mentioned that he, in fact, does not. The fact is, Jimbo actually has much more big game experience than Gus.

Then you told us all you haven't even watched a Florida State football game in years.

Irishpat would be impressed with your attempt to make the discussion about something else though.
