Wow, 4 WR listed as HIGH; plus there's potentially DGB being in the mix as well. With maybe only 18 or so schollies to give out and the DB postions filling out quite well this early, how many of the these would you think ND would take to fill the WR void?

Good work Jason, the only slight change I would make is the likelihood of Stefon Diggs is Low. He is really only looking at Maryland and Florida schools.

WR Alton Howard – staff wants to evaluate his height – if actually 5’9 or higher, his offer will stand and he will be a key WR target
OL Ronnie Stanley – recent offer who seems to have decent early interest

RB David Perkins – has been to campus a ton, will probably have to wait to see what happens with higher RB targets
WR Kodi Whitfield – Visit for Blue Gold game shows interest, would love an offer – lack of film on him probably prevents that for now

We already have a pretty stellar DB class (that is, if we can hold on to it). Have the #1 and #3 CBs, and a Top 15 S.

i'd say if we add one or two more elite DB's our DB class will be more impressive than our WR class, due to the interest we have from a lot of middle of the pack type of receivers...on the other hand if we land DGB he will make any class of receivers look elite.

What separated our DL class last year as elite was the caliber of players that we brought in not the numbers and we have the potential to do the same thing in the defensive backfield this year.

Not to be a pessimist, but ND has very little chance to land Geno Smith.

I know Geno stated he's not bothered by the caliber of players already committed.

Yuri seems to be like the best target... That would make 4 super stars.

Keith Arnold checks in with a piece on ND's focus on DBs in the 2012 class here. He has an interesting quote from Geno Smith, via ISD:

“I ended up talking to Coach Martin later that day and he was just explaining the situation and saying don’t worry about it at all,” Smith said. “He said they’re just trying to build a championship defense. He said last year they signed the defensive linemen and this year they’re trying to get the fab five defensive backs. I’m buying into what they’re saying. They’re just trying to build a national championship team.”

I know the list is early so im just throwing out a name to help, but the Garnett kid from out west is high on ND. He is an elite OL prosepect.

As far as our DB pull this year, I think we have a very good shot with Yuri Wright and if Geno takes a visit to South Bend, we have a shot. He didn't just tell ISD what they wanted to hear in the interview and feed them a bunch of bull. He states that Alabama was his favorite but that was because he had been there numerous times. As I said, get him on campus and our chances are very real.

As for Deon Bush, i think we have little to no shot with him. He was a kid that tried to get Rabasa to stay home and play for Miami last year. This kid has Miami written all over him. Let's not forget that Al Golden is a solid recruiter and will be looking to lock down that area.
