CBS did an hour show last night on the moon landing with a lot of clips and interviews with Armstrong. At the time the U.S. felt the USSR would get to the moon first and ramped up the effort to beat them.

Once back into the Lunar module to return to the ship, they found the switch to fire the rocket was broke. They used a pen to fix it. Several other interesting tidbits on how close they were to failing instead of succeeding. I won't spoil.

Parades for the astronauts were held around the world. I wonder how the Ruskies felt?

The Russians DID get to the Moon first --- unmanned.

We got a human on the Moon first.

The Russians also crashed something on Mars and Venus first. But since we were kicking their a$$ by then, they focused on Venus and did mediocre exploration there. ... and left the Moon, Mars, and the outer planets to the wizards and the NASA pros. (Thank God.)

IIRC they killed a number of Cosmonauts, until they figured out it was better to splash down in the ocean instead of on land.

Joe Rogan had Commander David Fravor on recently. Great podcast.

OMM, I recently saw mention of Bob Lazar (who was also on the Rogan's pod) and your claim that he's widely discredited.

What are your thoughts on Commander Fravor's encounter?

I only recently dabbled into this topic, but I'm starting to get sucked in. I don't want to go down the rabbit hole with the wrong leader. So who are those in the field who are credible?

Thanks.

Complicated question or at least a big one ... so forgive what must be an inadequate response. I'll try some bullet points and feel free to ask for anything else.

1. At least some major portions of those Navy encounter claims stand up and are verifiable. This includes Fravor's case (which is multi-witnessed) and as you've learned his wing pilot also has given public testimony under anonymity (since she is still in service.)

2. The famous film strips seen are not Fravor's case, but data from other Navy encounters. They also seem to be verifiable encounters but exactly all the details on what the objects did or did not do (did they actually go into the ocean or merely fly right at the surface disturbing it? for instance) are still needed to be studied from the currently unavailable films themselves.

3. Fravor himself is a bit of a character despite being a boss pilot and one of our recent best. He can be deadly serious about things when they matter (i.e. officially reporting on things he has been militarily involved with) but a bit "looser" when it comes to giving opinions outside of that --- he, in my opinion, (by the way I'm not a great expert on David Fravor) jokes about some things and then will get a bit too authoritarian about others. This causes some people looking at these Navy cases to forget the actual verified information and fall off the cliff into "personality." PRIME investigative error.

4. The best non-military expert on these matters is Robert Powell, a retired high tech engineer from Austin, TX, and a personal friend. He and colleagues have written a lengthy report on what is known. I would imagine that it is on-line somewhere under Nimitz/Powell/Navy UFOs or googling words like that. Just learning what Robert thinks about ANYTHING in Ufology is worth reading/hearing.

5. Other active commentators on this business include Jan Aldrich, literally a lifelong UFO researcher out of Connecticut, and a VERY tough guy to get to say happy talk about UFO cases ... i.e. he's a tough sell. But he thinks that there is something important here, though less confident in all the current claims (he buys the outline of Fravor's incident but not yet convinced about what the Nimitz "tic-tacs" did, for instance.) His perhaps favorite case is the missile base-stopper case of Minot, ND in the 1970s --- forgive me for lacking exactness here, I'm typing at breakfast.

6. There are several good UFO researchers sprinkled among the nearly countless lousy ones. Most of them were visiting my house just this past weekend (I had 14 here this time.) Some, other than Powell and Aldrich, are Mark Rodeghier of CUFOS/Chicago, Tom Tulien of the Minot case/Minneapolis, Dave Marler the Triangles expert and much else/Albuquerque, and a couple handfuls of others in North American and foreign. I can't help saying that the book that Robert Powell and I wrote with help from eight others (including Aldrich, Barry Greenwood, Bill Chalker, Clas Svahn, Richard Thieme, Bill Murphy) is the finest UFO publication ever --- people not named me say so, and it is in over 200 academic libraries. Its title is UFOs and Government ... and I get no royalties, so no motivation there.

Thanks Mike! Perhaps you all need to go on Rogan too!

I'll start by reading your book before delving much further.

Stumbled across a new podcast called Oddball, which examines a mysterious object known as the Betz Sphere. OMM, any familiarity with this?

I haven't placed a lot of interest in the Betz Ball. The reason for this is that there was no real investigation of it when the sensationalism (both pictures above are from 1974-5) appeared. The family wouldn't approve either of shipping the thing to a decent lab, nor allowing someone competent to cut into the thing to investigate.

The spectacular claims of self-movement and high magnetism were never corroborated by either Allen Hynek nor the Air Force base. As time went on, it was discovered (to my knowledge anyway) that objects looking just like this one were commonly manufactured as parts of some industrial valve flushing systems.

The mysterious appearance of the object in Florida MIGHT possibly have been the result of a metal-sculptor using this sort of thing, plus the larger size variety, in his sculptures. He supposedly reported a hauling accident wherein he lost a few off the top of his van. Whether true or not I cannot say.

The anomalousness of these claims turns entirely upon whether anyone really saw the ball move on its own, and whether there was no mundane explanation if it seemed to. Whatever the truth there, there is no connection of the Ball with any UFO sighting.

Censorship: The beginning of Change.

Censorship: The beginning of Change.

Who else feels that We are being Censored. I could put Rogan up, but everyone Is putting that information up as fodder.

This Podcast isn't just about Mike. Listen.... Let me know

We are in very scary times. Philosophically speaking.

Dr. Judy comes into the picture 10 minutes in....

I wish I could change the headline to Hope and Change.

If my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle. What a terrible argument. Yeah if Kyrie or Love don't get hurt in 2015 LeBron has 5 championships. If the Heat don't choke against the Mavs he has 6. If the Cavs surround him with anything in his first run he'd have 10.

Come on.

Censorship Is about more than a basketball game. I really hope we all can see past the way Lessons are learned and understand It's not about Michael Jordan.

Everyone gets upset over throwing a ball in a hoop. If It was that way all Americans would love the guys that made every field goal.

Can you provide your own counterpoints too? In general I have no interest in this debate, but I might tune in if this thread is just Circa v Circa. Probably not, but maybe.

Smartass. LOL.
Counterpoint what? I take It that everyone Is OK with the government censoring your everyday happening? It's a slope and we are all allowing It to happen.

Ok, Let's start with the ability to run for public office.
Who wants to run in their small town elections only to be defeated by the guy that can buy more signs?
People really need to start understanding what It takes to run for office and If you lose that money, It Is irreplaceable... So why run? The local/national media Is already censoring your ad...
I could go on and on... It's not left/right. It's right and wrong. and left isn't always wrong, nor is right.

If you can dismantle that argument... I'm game.

This unintelligent conversation can be an issue... LOL. Love you brother. But Censorship Is an Issue when Youtube/Google says "If you say the virus Isn't popular we will take you and erase you".
Why?

I've watched and listened to alot of his podcasts. He Is on point, and asks questions I wish I were smart enough to ask myself. He has an Insurance company too.
He has a decorated background and is an Army guy.
I couldn't say I listened once and thought he was going off board.

I maybe could have put another example up. I will not apologize for his way of speaking.
