Should be fun...

TD Garden in Boston
January 18th @ 10 PM
Fox Sports 1

McGregor is pretty new on the UFC roster, and personally my favorite fighter. Exciting as hell, all MMA fans on here should check it out.

The roof may blow off the TD Garden... This was the last time he was in Boston after only 1 UFC fight.

Lots of fireworks last night, but Conor put the "angry German" out in the 2nd round.

After the stoppage, McGregor climbed the fence and went after Jose Aldo who he'll fight next for the title.

Some really bad decisions in Boston but the fireworks at the end made up for the judges being high as a kite.

I still haven't been able to watch the Cerrone fight. Was it really that bad of a decision?

I know they say don't leave up to the judges. It was a close fight but Ben controlled it start to finish. Cowboy really looked like he was in concrete boots. I really think it was Bens ability to land a side kick over and over to Cowboys lead leg. Also he looked like he was waiting on Ben yo take him down.

Ah, I'll have to see it for myself. Maybe he will think twice about taking fights so close to each other, the short amount of time off may have played a factor.

the pendred decision was terrible, a total hometown decision IMO, White and Rogan were pretty embarrassed afterwards :D

Btw, the reason they cut off the telecast during the moments before the fight was because McGregor flipped Siver off. Notorious.

Gotta love Conor. When they asked him what he said to Jose, "I don't even know what I said, I was just trying to fuck with him."

I actually thought the Cerrone/Henderson fight was very close - had it 29-28 Henderson but Cerrone did have that take down and they were pretty much even one striking with the exception of those leg kicks from Henderson.

That Cathal Pendred decision was the worst I've seen in a long time. The stand up was completely one sided which was where a majority of the fight took place. Even in the clinch where Pendred seemed to control Spencer, all he did was lean on him. His stand up game for a UFC fighter is so bad....I can't believe that two of the judges scored it 30-27 in his favor, let alone score it in his favor at all. I didn't have him winning a single round...30-27 Spencer.

Hopefully this lights a fire under Aldo when he fights McGregor. I remember when he fought in the WEC and what a monster he was (the fight with Cub Swanson was about 7 seconds of pure awesome). He's been pretty "blah" (or at least the fights I've seen) since joining the UFC.

I'd pay to watch the old Aldo destroy McGregor.

That's so misleading. McGregor was doing all sorts of disrespectful things before this fight and even when he entered the ring. I.e. instead of standing there listening to instructions he was jabbing at the air and shuffling his feet to try and intimidate Siver. Before that he was doing laps around the ring entering Siver's side of the ring more than once. I don't blame Siver at all. I hope Aldo pummels this ass.

I usually hate dudes like McGregor (I absolutely loathed Koscheck), but McGregor's act resonates with me... maybe because of the accent? His fighting style? Just can't get enough of the dude.

Only fighter I've ever liked more is Clay Guida.*

*When he used to be exciting instead of trying to win fights "boring."

Right. He always does. That's a reason people like me love him, but Herb told them to touch gloves. Conor put his out, Dennis did not. Dennis also talked about how Conor was all talk and he was gonna end his parade.

Conor is the next big thing in MMA, and his mouth does nothing but attract more fans. He's great for the sport.

Also you will be disappointed in a few months because I don't think anyone in 145 can stand in there with him for 3, and certainly not 5 rounds. I'm really excited to see what he can do in Lightweight.

Love it.

I bet the people around you were disappointed that Croke Park probably won't happen any time soon.

haha i had a few buddies who flew over to Boston just for it! Tbh, with the weather and stuff you could only have Croke Park UFC event in July or August. Most people are happy to wait for a title defense haha :)

Actually Herb Dean said (and what referees always say) is "if" you want to touch gloves do it now. This prevents anyone from taking a cheap shot after bell rings when one guy just wants to touch gloves. So Siver didn't want to touch gloves because I think he felt Mcgregor was disrespecting him and the sport.

This class is not the most competitive. Aldo's proved that. I'm not that impressed with a guy that has beat 4-5 decent guys who all have a bunch of losses. And oh yeah, two of those wins are in front of raucous partisan crowds. If he beats Aldo, that's a different story.

There's a way to talk smack and act confident (see: Bones), and then there's douchebaggery. I think McGregor falls into the latter category.

No, he says "touch gloves."

Doubtful. I get that he hasn't beaten any stars, but nobody has even given him trouble.

I saw the stat yesterday that in his UFC career, his opponent has only been in control for 22 seconds...

I agree with drake29's assessment of the Spencer and Cerrone fights. The Spencer fight was a robbery and after the Cerrone fight, I actually thought to myself that I would have to see it again to decide. I knew whoever lost would feel they were robbed and was actually thinking with all the crummy draws I have seen in other fight sports, that would have been a defensible draw.

As for McGregor, I also love his "antics". I think although there is some show in what he is doing, I believe he is a savant when it comes to technical striking and he is more Mohammed Ali convinced, then your run of the mill cocky fighter. As for his fight with Aldo I think this is a very good fight for Conor and would wager he wins. Aldo is incredible, but the cut to 145 is difficult for him so he gets gassed easily and he simply doesn't fight enough. I see Conor winning the belt but as with a lot of extremely high level strikers his challenges will come when he has to fight a great wrestler someone who can get him down and hold him down and force Conor to expend a lot of energy on his back or even in the clench. $0.02.
