24 year old reporter Alison Parker and 27 year old photographer Adam Ward were shot and killed doing a live report at a water park, Smith Mountain Lakes.

About 8 shots were fired while Parker was interviewing a woman for the segment. The interviewee was not injured. Police have no one in custody.

According to CNN TV a male holding a gun can be seen in the video after the camera was dropped by the photographer.

No further details were provided.

Just heard that their news station is continuing with their regular news this morning.

How terrible to have to go through with that.

That screaming is just horrifying. The fact that the interviewee didn't get hit from that close is strange, maybe the gunman knew the victims?

During an interview about bringing tourism into the area too.

One of best ways to honor the two people killed in this murder is to not watch the video of their slaying. There is little doubt that is at least in part what the killer had in mind, "people will see me kill them on video." Filling your mind with this type of real life violence can do no good and dishonors the lives that were taken.

CNN reports police have "a name" and "possibly the license plate number" of the shooter.

Sweet now they can catch him and use enormous amounts of tax payer money to hold him in custody, make sure he gets the fair and equal trial that he never gave these two victims, and if we're lucky tax payers will pay for him to spend the rest of his life in jail. Would be much cheaper and more reasonable in my mind at this point to just start tying guys like this to a tree, putting two in his head and leave him there...let his family bear the time and expense to come untie him and figure out what to do with him after that.
My heart goes out to the families of these reporters and really any family that loses loved ones to a worthless POS like this.

I'm following the police scanner and everything seems to be fairly 'clam' (if you will). Nothing out of the ordinary as out yet.

They are pinging his phone right now and have a location but I am guessing he is moving.
