I hope they're both a shitshow in the debates, maybe people will quit backing 70+ candidates. Some people are still sharp at that age, but there's no reason to award someone the most difficult job in the country when there's a chance for a steep mental decline.

At this point I think if Trump winds up in jail and is off the card it doesn't play into the liberals' plan. They've made him incredibly toxic with the thought that independents and even some conservatives don't want to touch him. If another candidate is on the ballot and Trump is effectively a martyr it could be bad for the left. Just speculation really, but a squeakier clean replacement would be more tolerable for independents. The only question would be if MAGA is pissed off enough to show up.

She will stay in as long as she can until the court cases play out. We should know the following within a few months:

1. Presidential immunity ruling by SCOTUS or they deny his stay for the Jan 6th Case. If they deny his stay and kick back down to Chutkhan this case could go in May and last just a few weeks pending the delay tactics (which Chutkhan has not been playing along with). There willb e an outcome known well before October.
2. Criminal election interference case in Manhattan is going in March. Will make him a felon and possible jail time (I dont think they will give him jail but I dont think he loses the case and then appeals as much as possible to delay). This outcome will be known before October and he will be a felon pending appeals.
3. The Illegal retention of documents and espionage case in Florida is quite clearly the easiest to prosecute and he will definitely end up in jail over this one but Judge Aileen Cannon is doing her best to delay and stay on the case on Trump's behalf. She has already been overturned twice by the 11th circuit in this case and if she makes one more ruling that is as egregiously erroneous as the first two then she could realistically be removed from the case by the 11th circuit panel.
4. The RICO case in GA. will likely take the longest and not be tried to even next year given the bullshit tactics that are being employed to delay and attempts to get Willis thrown off the case. The Georgia state legislature has attempted several times to remove here and now the lawyers for one of the RICo people has tried to get her thrown off claiming she was in a relationship with one of the people hired by her and that that was causing bias so the whole case should be thrown out. This is clearly not the case and they are really doing this just to smear her and the people working on the case. Pathetic and gross but that isn't new in Trump world.

I've said this before, but when Dwayne Johnson's movie career starts to wind down in the next decade the Democrats should throw a shit ton of money at him to run. He's teased stuff as a joke before, but he'd be a guaranteed 2 term President. The Abraham Accords were a stupid kabuki theatre in that they failed to acknowledge and or address the situation in Palestine which has been and will continue to be a major flash point in the region and the fact that Iran, like it or not is a major power broker in the region. That accord demonstrably did jack shit to resolve the long simmering tensions in the Middle East. Also, it is clear that Trump letting BeeBee and right wing Israelis run wild helped enable the current catastrophe in both Israel and Palestine.

As to the border, again dumb ass Trump and his stupid foreign policy decisions as they related to Venezuela specifically played a large part in the current situation. I do think Charisma poses a factor in the big dance. Other factors obviously help, like incumbents having a strong economy, but arguably the more charismatic guy won many of the last Presidential elections in my time.

The last one arguably goes against that grain with Biden over Trump, but it was a very unconventional race. The pandemic made a huge impact as well as Trump's response to it. And if you dont know we are currently waiting on the SCOTUS to respond to Trumps appeal of the DC Circuits ruling that POTUSs do not have absolute immunity to criminal activities, which is what Trump's lawyers argued for. They literally argued that a POTUS has no outside bounds of office and that anything a President does is acceptable, even having Seal Team Six round up political rivals and imprison or kill them. They literally made that argument to the Appeals court. This claim should terrify every American. I'm trying to recall another leader that has recently done this for his political rivals.... its escaping me at the moment though. If I remember his name I'll post it.
