I think the humorous part is that there are many in MSM and actual politicians that are trying to conflate the situations between any of the three (Pence/Joe/DJT). It's like if someone went to the grocery store, paid for everything and then realized they didn't scan something on the bottom of the cart. DJT didn't return all of the goods when asked and then lied about. Neither of the other two did that. If they did lie about, I would hope they get charged as well.

I don't think Kid Rock is going to be breaking the atom anytime soon. Despite claims of being surrounded by the very best, not many nuclear scientists are hanging out with Don. Who knows, maybe he was selling access to the documents but that's not in the indictment so I have no idea. It's much easier to explain to a common joe nuke details in a short form memo.

Liberal media loves Trump because he's a content machine and (shocking) they are super wealthy and don't give a shit about his policies. It requires a pretty big leap to suggest Trump's polling is because of the libs - no actual centrist or leftist is seeing Trump coverage and voting for him, and the Trump funding base isn't from liberals (although they do fund Trump surrogates in local elections).

At the end of the day, the problem isn't those who call him out on his BS and expect him to be held accountable. It's those that excuse his actions and those who created this mess. Where is the accountability for the GOP for giving this dog shit candidate? Tim Scott should be ethering Trump right now, hes a perfect candidate - not an unhinged own the libs type of guy and just sticks to typical conservative positions.

(A disclaimer - I wouldn't be upset if crime bill Joe got hit with an indictment. If the world was just, we would be on term 2 of Bernie where my friends kids aren't playing COD school deathmatch irl)

Seriously doubt he was selling access to the documents, they were sitting in storage and mixed with mementos, newspaper clipping, and garbage for some time. It sounds like he wasn't even going to bother with any of it until that writer was doing that interview and they started digging in. "Oh hey, look at this I found. Actually, you probably shouldn't." It was laziness and ignorance.

No one said he's polling because of the libs. He polls because he's more charismatic than most of the boring conservatives in Washington. The point is the liberals have strongly invested in fighting Trump because he's expected to be the front runner again. They've put most of their resources into exposing everything he's ever done or not done to try and make him untouchable for moderates. Imagine now if he suddenly stepped down from the race and a squeaky clean candidate that didn't have a big mouth took his place? That would substantially hurt the liberals chances and make their efforts wasted.

I hope Tim Scott or someone else wins the primary, I really do. While it was fun for awhile to see people melt down over the bad orange man, the novelty wore off awhile ago and I don't see anything getting done if Congress is just going to invest 4 more years of investigations to stymie him again. I fear we've reached such a divisive level of politics that whoever the next man is it'll just be more of the same though. The mud slinging and attacks have reached record levels on both sides.

This is interesting as Trump and Milley never got along.

Around the final days of Trump’s presidency, Milley had supposedly feared that the president might attack China. Milley secretly contacted Gen. Li Zuocheng, the head of China’s military on two occasions to apprise him of developments in Washington, and to assure him that steps were being taken to prevent that possibility, according to Woodward’s book on the matter, Peril.

However, Trump told Woodward that it was Milley and the Pentagon who were behind secret plans to attack China, according to the indictment.

Will be interesting to see what happens with his appointee overseeing his case as the judge… could be a situation where he gets convicted but no major penalties? Anyone know how much latitude judges have in sentencing in these cases?

I can’t imagine him not receiving any major penalties if convicted. I can see him getting some time in a minimum security facility. House arrest would be a joke. No idea if they have any leeway.

I have zero doubts that if convicted, he would have the best possible experience while incarcerated.

I don't necessarily think it shouldn't be that way either.

We were talking about your tendency lately to insult rather than bring solid evidence to back your claim.
He doesn’t give a damn about solid evidence or he’d have stopped repeating Fox News talking points years ago.

President would probably still have secret service in prison. Sucks to be on that detail.

Durham last month released a 300-page report after completing his four-year investigation into the Trump-Russia probe. He criticized the FBI at length in the report, accusing the agency of acting negligently by opening the investigation based on vague and insufficient information, but did not provide any new evidence that anyone in the government had acted unlawfully.

“The [Justice] Department and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to law,” the conclusion section of Durham’s report says. “Senior FBI personnel displayed a serious lack of analytical rigor toward the information they received, especially information received from politically affiliated persons or entities.”

Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, the committee’s ranking Democratic member, agreed with Turner’s assessment of Durham’s testimony.

Is this what you meant to quote?

"Durham’s testimony before Judiciary Committee comes after he spoke with the House Intelligence Committee behind closed doors for more than two and a half hours Tuesday. Durham was “very forthcoming” with the panel, saying that “he has concerns, that there are reforms that need to go into place and that there are still issues that need to be addressed,” Ohio Rep. Mike Turner, the committee's chair, told reporters after Durham’s testimony.

“I think that we were able to get some information that would be very helpful for us and the work that we have to do on both the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] renewal, FISA reforms and also reform issues with the FBI,” he said.

Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, the committee’s ranking Democratic member, agreed with Turner’s assessment of Durham’s testimony."

I know I had no intention of reading the link, but that last line made me wonder, "well, who is Turner and why does Himes agree with him?"

For those of you calling for Trump to be treated like everyone else in this document case, here is an "everyone".

"A former FBI intelligence analyst from Dodge City, Kansas, who kept hundreds of classified documents at her home, including in her bathroom, was sentenced to nearly four years in prison by a federal judge in Kansas City on Wednesday for violating the same part of the Espionage Act that former President Donald Trump is accused of breaking."

My argument would be “like” Clinton and Biden in terms of “everyone else”. But I also think they all should be “everyone else”.

Lol, you're on fire with crappy comparisons lately.

Comey made a big deal to point out that not charging Clinton was because, they don't charge people for mishandling docs in the way that she did.

I’ll wait for your Biden retort.

I work for the DOD. My day is full of stupid online trainings on the handling of classified documents. I can take one more from a rando on Irish Envy.

...he's being investigated right now, like everyone else. Pence being a pretty solid comparison.

With your extensive GS training/CBT experience, I'm sure you are trained on the fact that Trump's intent to keep the documents and to mislead the government during the reclamation process is a major inflection point for how the government views the misconduct.

Let’s focus on “everyone else”. If I were just simply asked for my government issued phone back because of an investigation and I sent it back after I hammered it to dust, then scrubbed all my personal devices and hammered those as well… I would be in jail for something. Guaranteed.

I will concede what trump did was wrong… like I have said many times in this very thread and I have even said to lock his ass up. But stop pretending everyone else is being treated as “everyone else”.

Would you please put the punctuation inside the quotations? It’s driving me mad.
