The combination of those two assertions might constitute the most heart-dead worded piece of writing I've ever read on IE.

COVID's death rate (with no added complications) IS close to zero for the young. It begins to "take off" as a statistical curve in your 50s, really accelerating in your 70s. By those years it is TYPICAL that American adults show one or more of heart problems, circulation problems, lung problems, diabetes etc --- the devil's list of key killers, labeled by some as "a bunch of shit wrong with them."

The simple statement of 6% dying from COVID alone should be nerve rattling, not cause for relaxation. The simple fact that it's our elder fathers and mothers in the gunsight should be nerve rattling. .. or heart rending. But what-the-he!l, they're just a bunch of whomevers with a bunch of crap wrong with them.

I guess they deserve it.

I'm not denying climate change, but there's not a switch you can hit that automatically stops things. What can be done that will immediately mitigate risk is manage the forest and upgrade the utilities.

Do a little googling and you'll see it's a pretty standard topic.

Forest management is important but is just putting a band aid on the surface These fires are generally caused by extended draught and year after year record highs.
All the forest management in the world isn't going to even slow it down much.

Not setting a plan to commit to greener energy screws over everyone.
Keeping the economy rolling for maximum profit far out weighs environment. You're right it can't happen over night. But it happens a lot faster when you put a standardized plan in place.
