NATO was developed to be a counter to Soviet invasion of Europe, and I think it’s outlived its use. The EU can defend itself and we can work up bilateral agreements for basing as we desire in Europe.

So it looks like this is related to the story about how Paolo Zampolli (who sounds like a real POS btw) who serves as a special envoy for global partnerships in the second Trump administration, used his political connections to influence U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain and deport Amanda Ungaro, a Brazilian former model and former common-law wife / partner of Trump ally Zampolli, to Brazil in October 2025 following a contentious custody battle; Paolo has essentially stolen their son who was in Brazil with Ungaro, and has secured custody of him for now.

Essentially, this is a "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" (he took her son after getting ICE to deport her unlawfully to Brazil) story and now she has been threatening to expose all around the truth about her relationship with Paolo and running in the Trump / Epstein circles ove the past 20-25 years. She was on Epstein Island flight logs at age 17 in 2002. Paolo apparently is the one who introduced Trump to Melania at one of these social circle parties.



From this story:

"Amanda Ungaro has been trying to get the Trump administrations attention on social media. She claims she and Melania were once close friends — so close that she maintains a relationship with Melania’s parents. Now she is threatening to expose what she knows about Jeffrey Epstein, Melania Trump and President Trump — who she called a pedophile."

I'm sure she's only threatening at this point because she ultimately wants her son back so I'm sure is being careful to only threaten and not ruin the hope of getting him back.

It sounds like Melania is so worried about the potential fallout here, she felt compelled to have her WH press conference yesterday. So it makes sense that all parties including Trump aren't saying much about this ongoing story.

Ungaro apparently has a team of lawyers working with her, I'm sure, again, with the ultimate goal to get her son back. I just hope she also has a team of 24 x 7 body guards / security detail in Brazil because this sounds like a situation where it's likely to become an "Ungaro hung herself" kind of story real quick otherwise.

I go back and forth on this stuff and avoid it where I can. But sometimes it's unavoidable.

On the Israel influence question more broadly, I'm curious what they plan on doing with changing American demographics.

The difference in opinion polls between older and younger Americans on Israel is stark. And the Epstein stuff and weird Israel worship from some politicians has been noticed.

i think they know they are cooked PR wise for future generations so they are grabbing all the land/objectives that they can while they can

Speaking of land grabs, here's the craziest one I've heard. Supposedly Trump is going after NATO because the plan is for us to leave so Israel will have free rein to attack Turkey. Seems extreme, but If that actually happened, would be egregious.

Human Spaceflight operations are getting a $750M increase. The biggest cuts are coming from the ISS program (which makes sense since it is being decommissioned in 2030), RDT&E accounts for Artemis (which is natural in federal budgeting as you actually go on to executing missions),and cuts to specific engagements with universities.

The car kinda fucked hard. Had automatic seat belts. 110 horsepower! Struggled with hills...sounded like a moped when the overdrive kicked on. The E break made gravel/dirt parking lots very fun.

Had way more aura than what followed ('05 Taurus). Bitch made.

I got my license on a 2002 corolla, and I swear to god cars from that time period were made to lobotomize you.

The shoulder strap was on an automatic thing. Just youtube automatic seatbelt and it'll pop right up lol. You just had to buckle across your waist like you might on a carnival ride.

I like corollas. Toyota makes good cars.

it almost seems embarrassing to point this out but a full naval blockade is like a textbook act of war and it seems like we would need congressional authorization before starting one, right? Or is the constitution optional?
