And to Bluto’s point… the number one stated goal of the PRC for decades has been the reunification of China and Taiwan by any means necessary. The Chinese people will have a stomach for a high attrition war over Taiwan way more than the American people do (and rightfully so). I just have hesitations over the true capability of our allies and partners to project force into the SCS in the way that we truly would need them to do to be a difference maker in conflict with China. The placement of munitions and personnel is great, but without a real ability to defend against land based hypersonic and ballistic missiles that China has, I’m not sure the regional partnerships that we have will move the needle in a decisive way.
That’s pretty far removed from your original assertion that we get our ass kicked long term. And again, they better have a large stomach for attrition as we starve them out over any extended conflict.
