It doesn't say that any Trump actions contributed to Microsoft's decision to put the project on hold. It seems like the project could go forward at a later date.

1. "Microsoft said in a statement Monday that it is not moving forward with any of the Licking County sites at this time. A spokesperson said they are "pushing back plans."
"We will continue to evaluate these sites in line with our investment strategy," according to Microsoft.
That's corporate code for "economic conditions currently suck and the project is now going to be too expensive given rising costs"..."The ROI isn't there"

2. "A spokesperson for Microsoft told ABC6 that the company will continue owning the land in Licking County but could not confirm any timeline of if or when any future projects on the properties might move forward."

Everybody makes things. I understand that. But we don't seem to make a whole lot anymore. We outsource everything now. Even my Dish tech support is Indian.

I have to buy Diamond Gussett if I want to buy a freaking pair of jeans made in the US. Ive always had to use Trojan Magnums when having sex with women. Fortunately, THEY are at least made in New Jersey.

For how long? Many manufacturing, construction and food processing/production jobs destroy your body pretty quickly.

On top of that there’s limited time off, erratic employment based on time of year, questionable or no health care and minimal retirement benefits that come with many of those jobs particularly if they are non union.

I seem to recall a chicken processing plant in Georgia making it a point to hire locals about 20 years ago and if memory serves me correctly most people washed out within a week. I saw this same dynamic when I worked in Alaska in a cold storage/fish processing facility. Most people lasted two to three weeks.

That is exempt from tariffs and a completely different issue. I am fully supportive of any and all measures to limit offshoring / H1Bs / etc. and preserve good jobs here. That's different than not understanding how trade works or that trade deficits with poor countries are usually a good thing.

Here's the thing, I am purposely keeping this brief. There are boatloads of empirical evidence showing how China has utilized their massive trade surplus to their advantage. Combined with IP theft, it's lead to a global behemoth that left unchecked, would be catastrophic. But slapping tariffs on a moments notice without strategic vision on how to execute a plan to combat China, is simply irrational. Trump would have been better to slap a universal 10% tariff that would double every year without specific actions. But to think Iphones could be manufactured in the US in short order is laughable.

Don't disagree, but "who" owns the assets and profits in these poor countries is increasingly China. It's pervasive.
