Why would they agree to that? They already have full mineral rights.

Also, the entire premise of taking Greenland is so Elon/Tesla have mineral rights there. We covered this last week.

Lastly, this seems like a very poor investment for the US if we are taking over a massive piece of land, having to subsidize it, and not even making full value on it. This seems anti-thetical to government efficiency.

Incorrect! One project was halted somewhat due to this reason but more importantly...

Even if Denmark didn't have environmental restrictions on mining in Greeland, artic mineral extraction is one of the most inefficient methods of mining. The ROI is generally not as robust and China has been able to more effectively leverage deals with Russia in recent years. It's why mining in Greenland isn't even that profitable for Greenland or Denmark themselves.
