In anticipation of Trump’s visit and all the ridiculous shit he will inevitably say regarding wildfire’s here’s a piece originally written in I believe 1995 and later included in the book Ecology of Fear, which will hopefully provide some much needed context.

“The 1930 Decker Canyon fire was a worst-case scenario involving 50-year-old chaparral and a fierce Santa Ana. Faced with a five-mile front of towering flames, 1,100 firefighters could do little except save their own lives. As the firestorm unexpectedly wheeled toward the Pacific Palisades, there was official panic. County Supervisor Wright, his nerves shaken by a visit to the collapsing fire lines, posted a hundred patrolmen at the Los Angeles city limits to alert residents for evacuation. Should the “fire raging in the Malibu District get closer,” he gasped, “our whole city might go.” Ultimately, this apocalypse (which may have given Nathanael West the idea for the burning of Los Angeles in his novel Day of the Locust) was avoided—no thanks to human initiative—when the fickle Santa Ana abruptly subsided.”
You don't think there was any bad decision-making or lack of planning here? The budget cuts, vegetation, priorities, and resource availability were all good here? I'm not lining up to defend everything Trump is going to say. I'm sure he will throw something interesting in there, but this idea that the response was great is really interesting. Your except seems to imply oversimplification may be ahead, but the disaster readiness here was clearly crap.

Try the Anti-Communist Manifesto by Jesse Kelly. Can't fight Marxists/communists with reason and altruism. If you are going to wrestle a pig you have to get dirty.
I’ll check it out.

I do actually listen to some conservative commentator's. Steve Bannon has some interesting things to say and Sagar Engeti is interesting as well. I find both to be consistent in their logic which I appreciate irregardless on whether or not I agree with their overall conclusions. Anyhow, thanks!

You mean this ADL?

Yes, that ADL.

“Making inappropriate and highly offensive jokes that trivialize the Holocaust only serve to minimize the evil and inhumanity of Nazi crimes, denigrate the suffering of both victims and survivors and insult the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Shoah.”

Uh huh, and what has Musk done that's so dangerous? This screams fear mongering. Is he Tony fucking Stark creating weapons of mass destruction? He bought a social media platform that was heavily influenced by liberals and he gave conservatives an equal voice when previously they were getting banned and squelched. For years conservatives lamented this and they were told "Get your own platform." Now liberals are pissed that Musk did just that and bought Twitter, except liberals are allowed to remain. The whole thing is hilarious. I'm probably getting off topic though, maybe this has nothing to do with social media. Please explain why he's so dangerous.
Per the ADL

“Making inappropriate and highly offensive jokes that trivialize the Holocaust only serve to minimize the evil and inhumanity of Nazi crimes, denigrate the suffering of both victims and survivors and insult the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Shoah.”

Gonna be great when some right wing kook inevitably shoots up another synagogue because you know per your own post “people are easily manipulated”.

I think if you actually read it you would find that you would agree with a lot of what is said.
gulp - having to reconcile that neoliberalism is what lead to this and that *gasp* people have criticized the california Dems for this exact thing. Surely running a platform based on decreasing government spend will lead to the private sector picking up the slack in disaster response, right?

*I wasn't alive for the Texas grid disaster.

Hmmm ok Mr. Dem, why don't you take issue with NewSCUM! And that leadership!

*whispers* Yeah he's also bad, he's just slightly better than Larry Elder and company.

Idk maybe deregulation and reduction of government spending isn't the fix for natural disaster responses. Anyways, why did countries move away from private emergency response teams? Who knows, but hey cheap eggs!

It’s hilarious that people are naive enough to think that the same west coast, tech elites who helped turn the Bay Area into a neoliberal playground for the ultra wealthy (with that idiot Newscums help) are now supposedly the same dudes who are gonna play a huge role in “saving” the rust belt/flyover country or whatever.

Steve Bannon of all people seems to see the writing on the wall with this one.

Yeah, but he saved social media from the clutches of those nasty leftists! lmao. He then ended up enforcing some of the same measures because....who would have guessed have nazi's and pyschos say unhinged shit was bad for business?

Did you read the article or orders? He's ordering a review on the Biden censorship and the Biden weaponization as part of his order to end it.

Also- sweet.

Biden and his administration should be investigated. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Personally, I think cigs should be banned, but if you're going to allow it, you might as well let the knuckleheads smoke Kools.

Whether you agree with them or not, I always said Biden and Trump are entertaining, but I have to admit Bluto and Toronto might be the new headliners.

"A Brief Postscript:" The postscript itself was 1,000 words. lol

The government can accept a lot of the responsibility as well as the home owner. When the government lets people build in areas like that, they get the tax revenue. They then shoulder the responsibility to put in the infrastructure and services to protect the citizens. Nothing is going to change the annual weather patterns. With this being the greatest fire of them all, let's hope that the authorities will finally upgrade the infrastructure and programs to combat these fires while making home owners build their home out of concrete blocks or other fire retardant material to minimize the damage and loss of life.

I assume they're referring to this post:

It's clear Musk is mocking the left wing propagandists that jumped to call him a Nazi, he even mentions it in the comments. He references Nazis, but doesn't speak about the Holocaust. Regardless, it's just as likely or more so that a young antisemite liberal shoots up the next synagogue. Since the turn of the century there's been about 30 attacks of various kinds at jewish places of worship. 5 were white nationalists, the rest are split up between antisemites with 6, along with a number of Islamic extremists, and cases with unknown motives/suspects.

Remember all of the clowns who pretended that they needed a crap bill to defend the border and that Republicans were to blame? It was a brazen lie and funny compared to all of Trump's work we have seen this week.

I was half listening to a podcast yesterday that said one of Trump's executive orders is likely to benefit Notre Dame.

Some order about classical architecture for federal buildings, and Notre Dame has the best classical architecture program in the country apparently. So ND alums should be expecting to get some giant projects.

I thought the plan was to cut spending and burn down DC or whatever?

Maybe they’ll do all those data centers ala the Roman Coliseum?

That’s basically what the latest version of the “anti business and ruinous libtard” State Bldg Code requires.

All that wasn’t clear to the ADL apparently. Probably not clear to all those people you have stated are “easily manipulated” as well.

Look, I think the ADL is ridiculous in that they equate being Jewish with being a Zionist and they have turned any and all legitimate criticism of Israel into screams of “antisemitism” in this country.

I was simply pointing out that the ADL, which is often pointed to by many right wing activists and was teed up by a poster here as the “voice of the Jewish people” in the U.S. was in fact criticizing the man child Musk for his moronic tweets, which they saw as trivializing the holocaust.

What’s good for the goose and all that.

They are cutting from other place. Musk already cut $420 million 😱😱😱

Only $1.96 trillion behind schedule.
