Maybe 1/3 in footprint, but not in importance. I looked at the history of the building to get some extra perspective because I honestly didn't know what the East Wing's function was aside from being an office for the First Lady (But not so much in modern times). It was nicknamed Siberia apparently because it's so far removed from the politics of the Oval Office and the West Wing. Aside from the First Lady offices that were mentioned it also has the emergency bunker under it, and it has the family theatre where Clinton watched the Super Bowl and Nixon watched The Sting. That's pretty much it. Considering they've said the First Lady offices will be rebuild in the new facility, we're not really losing anything of importance. I assume the bunker will remain or may even get updated as part of this.

It's not about that stuff and I think many are all for improving the WH. And hell, if it needed a better ballroom (or in fact, a proper one), then so be it. As GATTACA! stated it's how went about it like a Dictator and with no regard for Architectural aesthetic.

And more importantly, why does a President even need a new I'm sure heavily fortified bunker (although I'm sure there are many highly-secured hiding spots for an American President for sure in existence) at the White House implying he's such a bad President (let's just say Dictator) that he needs to have something like this in place to protect himself. Can you imagine Ronald Reagan feeling that he needed a bunker in place as a President because he's afraid to be attacked by his own people, but that's what this implies for DJT.

TDS, engaged.

Whatever, the term is so silly, but you do you.

Besides, it gives way too much credit to Trump who is nothing more than the face of MAGA and a puppet so not a lot to get "deranged" about.

There's so much more than Trump going on with this administration and the greater New Right movement to undo our long-standing liberal pluralistic democracy.

With a "pluralistic democracy", you should feel protected. Hysterics such as this:

"...with no regard for Architectural aesthetic.

And more importantly, why does a President even need a new I'm sure heavily fortified bunker (although I'm sure there are many highly-secured hiding spots for an American President for sure in existence) at the White House implying he's such a bad President (let's just say Dictator) that he needs to have something like this in place to protect himself."

-Indicate derangement. Lacking style, needing a new heavily fortified bunker to protect himself from the people, "let's just say Dictator", all demonstrate a lack of free thought, as those are MSM talking points, or you Hate him (not dislike), and that colors your outlook. And hate leading to that view may indicate a level of derangement.

We can all dislike a President. Not even sure I like Trump because he does some knucklehead things. I have disliked many Presidents, but derangement is not a term I would use for my feelings (or lack of feelings) toward them.

A silly term would be, "Let's Go Brandon".

Deranged is what you call someone when you don’t want to argue on any of the merits of what they’re saying. It’s the equivalent to calling your wife emotional or dramatic when you’re being chewed out.

There's really no point in engaging, I don't think he's ever had a post that isn't just calling someone a TDS sufferer or emotional. I think Giddyup brought more to the table. Guess it gets lonely under the bridge.

Thank you. I'd counter that you need merit to your points to consider an argument or to have a discourse. I was merely making an observation.

We’ll see. We’re still far away from 2028 and DJT’s health is a big concern anyway. And the crazy New Right coalition is still gonna try and follow through on its long term plan anyway, whether it’s DJT or Vance as President in 2029.

Also, why do bother to reference bull shit statements from Trump. Do you expect me or anyone to actually believe anything he says is the truth? It’s all gibberish and no one should ever believe his statements. He is Donald Trump after all, The King of Liars (and Subterfuge).

People believe whatever they want to believe. If it's bad for them, Trump is telling the truth and they know it's definitely happening. If it's what they want to hear, Trump is clearly lying. Which is it? Whatever fits the narrative is the answer, and of course they'll take what he says and claim he said something else too.
Does he lie? Of course, he's a politician. His lies are usually silly exaggerations, like how his numbers are the greatest of any President ever, pulled right from the article. He can't change the Constitution to get a 3rd term, it's not happening. Suggesting otherwise is just fearmongering.

Dude!!!! Thank you for your the psychological analysis - I appreciate it!

It sure sounds like you're going out of your way to casually dismiss your obvious worship and fandom of Teflon Don, even to the point of calling out someone for "hating" your fearless leader.

I don't hate Trump, I think he's a narcissistic fool who manipulated his way into being the face, candidate, and Supreme Agitator for the New Right backing him (and sold his soul to them in doing so) all for his own ego and aggrandizing of power; sadly, he's gonna die an old lonely man who will go down infamously in history and will only be remembered dishonorably as said America's first dictator.

I actually feel sad for him and his family who likely live out their final years abroad and in shame, shunned by America and society.

The bunker has been used multiple times in the past, but it's not always reported for security purposes. Cheney and other Cabinet members were relocated there for 9/11. It was used at times during the Nixon administration and during WWII (Which is why it was originally built). Whether it's currently in use or not, it's staffed 24/7. We don't even know if the bunker is getting renovated, but given the fact major work is being done and it was first built 80 years ago I would bet the ballroom could just be an excuse to update the facility. The ballroom isn't even expected to be completed until 2029 so it's not like Trump is going to benefit from any of it (Unless he makes a social appearance for President Vance). I like how your first thought is that Trump is building all that just for his own protection though, pretty short sighted.

1) I say it will completed much faster; 2) Trump as I stated COULD be around until the end of 2030 (I'm sure in his mind right now, he's relishing the thought!); and 3) I essentially mean the current undemocratic administration when I say "Trump" (think of them as one interchangeable and ill-intentioned entity).

Swing and a Miss NDW. I expect a better argument based on your handle.

What an unhinged rant. TDS.

The PEOC is under the East Wing. Nothing is being lost, just adding a proper event hall. Beats large outdoor tents.

The fact that some people cannot understand that many are annoyed at HOW this ballroom construction is going about, not THAT it's happening shows their blindness.

If there was live feed in Trumps bathroom, people would complain that he uses too much toilet paper and is harming the environment.
maybe, but irrelevant.

This is serious construction being done and he is doing it like he has done with MANY things... bending the rules. I don't give a fuck what they put at the White House, but I do care that things like rules, proper planning, etc. are followed and not just bully ball.
