No one was arguing about the legality of flying flags
I know that you weren’t, I think Irish’s response was that anybody can fly whatever flag they want, and from a 1st amendment perspective it’s agnostic to whatever message is behind the flag. I get that you were making a separate argument with Bishop though, relating him wanting to deport those who burn the flag to deporting those who fly the confederate flag

I don't agree that this is Newsom trying to show that he can be tough on crime like Trump to gain voters, including from across the aisle.

In fact, a story just came out today from the OC Register outlining how homicides (the most violent form of crime) are down across So Cal cities, mirroring a national trend experienced by big cities.

The article points out that the region has not reached all-time lows and the homicide reduction trend is partly the unwinding of the COVID era where there was naturally more crime due to losing jobs, tough times, and overall societal anxiety.

But the unwinding of the COVID era meant cops were going back to their local beats to police neighborhoods and strengthen community relations and build greater trust. Local presence was better staffed again post-COVID.

But even these numbers approaching pre-COVD levels are still great numbers that are nowhere near the terrible homicide numbers of the 80s and 90s.

Additionally, police in these OC cities have been deploying more technology advances and AI-driven data to more proactively ID and suppress crime.

I believe Newsom sees the positive effects on crime and homicide from increased efforts to be present in communities and build trust and to leverage the latest technologies to more proactively stop crimes from happening.

So he sees an opportunity to double down on this and further decrease crime the right way (I believe it is the right way) which is being in the communities unmasked, badge clearly showing, and leveraging technology respectively and not violating residents' civil rights; diametrically opposite of Trump's and ICE's approach of masked thugs clothed in Temu-bought "uniforms," abusing surveillance technology and people's civil rights, and focusing on arresting hard-working brown-skinned residents vs. true criminals.

This is simple enough to see the major differences and positive community vibes and reduction of crime and homicides... Trump, Miller, Homen, Lyons, and Noem could learn something from Newsom and So Cal's more effective tactics against crime and homicide.

I was so with you on this up until you start opining. TDS, engaged."... and focusing on arresting hard-working brown-skinned residents vs. true criminals." Illegally in the states is a crime and if the shoe fits, they are criminals. It doesn't take into accounts feelings or emotions.

Actually, i just think your trolling for a reaction-so, I suppose you are welcome. However, I'd love to see how they are truly policing.

One Q, stats in 2025 are through June 2025 and not the entire year. Is that to say we would have to double the numbers-which would continue to show improvements, kudos. What AI tech are the dept using? Any idea on how the compilation of stats have changed over the years?

I'll take a look at the article but interested if you knew these nuggets.

Although your hate for Trump is only slightly hidden(hahaha) I am not a fan of Newsome and would only grudgingly give that state credit (possibly him) after taking a closer look. I am not a fan of his-or the state.

Online trolling is the act of deliberately posting disruptive, inflammatory, or offensive comments to provoke an emotional reaction, cause conflict, or disrupt conversations within online communities.

Simplifying it for ya.

Nobody cares about your opinions; either here or on the football board. The politics board is almost unreadable as it is and your drivel adds nothing. You should probably read more and post less.

My drivel. :ROFLMAO:

Let's take a look at our two posts, shall we?

Are you now not just connected to important people but have they appointed you board police? I actually critically take a look at that model and seek answers. Gattaca, Toronto, and now you have only posted Nothing of Value. The post was about policing that devolved into party lines and despite my recognition of that-I take a step back and apply rational thought to the true subject. You 3 are unable to do so.

Party hacks-each and every one. Your true colors continue to be seen - and you're blinded.

I apply rational thought- everyone who disagrees has TDS and is trolling. This is the same guy who constantly misconstrues everyone's points and then disappears when asked for a response or is "just posting an observation".

Pretty funny to see him get called out in the football threads for this same line of thinking too lmao.

It wasn't the Trump administration that said that. It was a DC officer responsible for reporting statistics.

They also deliberately undercharged to make crime look better in DC.

lol......The only person saying they are blindly accepting numbers from this administration is you, Gatt, etc.

You want to wait and see what the investigation shows. I'm betting if this is confirmed, you won't believe it because it was Trump's Justice department that validated the officers claims.

But let's use your logic. You want to wait and see what comes out of the investigation, but rather than waiting to see how the NG deployment in DC plays out, you're certain this is federalizing the police and the military is taking control of law enforcement. lol

I saw this news story. You have to know this is a very politicized issue and you never know what kind of games are being played here, but just know:

- The Fraternal Order of Police Chairman Gregg Pemberton is known to not be a fan of DC City Council's bills over the past few years that he feels hamper the MPD force to deal with criminals (restrictions on neck holds, etc.) so this story benefits what he's fighting for since he feels his officers can't do their jobs
- Clearly something is going on where the accused, Michael Pulliam, the former commander of the 3rd District that patrols Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights, was placed on leave with pay and told he was under investigation for questionable changes to crime data; prior to this he had filed a report for unequal treatment and his wife was also reassigned to C-shift work (sounds like the dept retaliated against her)
- Obviously, Trump and Stephen Miller are very interested in the narrative here that DC officers are cooking the books and they both jumped all over it
-Per AH Datalytics, a consulting firm that compiles an aggregation of crime data provided by law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. has stated here that data that shows a decline in violent crime in Washington in recent years, and the murder rate statistics in particular are “very reliable.”
- The data in question for being underreported is more in the area of AWD - gun, bat, etc. and Felony assault but not for homicide, rape, robbery.
- Also, it could be the desire for the MPD to fudge the felony assault numbers a bit has been going on for years (and not suddenly a new thing here) so all things being equal YoY comparisons are valid and crime rates are coming down (which the group here - and most out there which are tracking U.S. big cities crime - says is a trend that aligns with what is being seen across all big U.S. cities, that crime is coming down since the pandemic)

We have to wait for the investigation to conclude - Nothing is concrete here.

This is just what you are seeing in public. Behind closed doors, experts and staff say he is incredibly energetic and often doing advanced mathematics and physical maneuvers that others are amazed by. He's not just sitting in Rehoboth beach on a chair all the time. The stamina is unreal.
Lots of people are saying it!

The best people!!
They say, "Wow, how do you do that? That math is so advanced, some say the most advanced, anyone has ever done in their head." Can you believe that? These people have seen the best and brightest, and then in those closed door meetings are just amazed. Sleepy Joe couldn't stay awake, and here I am doing these math problems, solving our issues.

They can’t believe it. They come up to me and say “This country was dead! Dead in the water. How did you do it?” No one knows math like me.

Some are speculating he took a fall and hit his head with a nice gash over the long weekend. He has been pretty absent since mid-last week.
