HC salaries are already out of control and all this craziness is only going to make matters worse. The only possible solution is to always have a guy on staff (e.g. Freeman) who can step up immediately and hopefully stop the bleeding.

Are we ever gonna know who the super secret o-lineman that Notre Dame was hoping would enter the portal? Or was that just bad radio by Prister and Sampson?

Given the current transfer rules, it seems like there would be some schools that would consider giving very little NIL on the front end. Let them go to another school and develop for a year or two and then be the top NIL school for Juniors and Seniors.

It seems like at some point that some of the NIL players would start to reevaluate when they pony up huge money on the front end only to see the player transfer in year one or year two.

Good. I wish there were more players like Maye and McMillan
Can't speak for Maye, but based upon Lopez's message, "I went out of my way to make sure you didn't get our best players", I'm assuming Lopez ponied up some big money to buy McMillan's return.

There is a 0% chance that Maye wasn’t heavily compensated at UNC

Then I'm confused by your comment "I wish there were more players like Maye and McMillan". Are you saying that they both took less than what they could've taken on the open market? I'll buy that for Maye. I'm not convinced on McMillan.

Yeah, I'm reading it that the donor is making sure - via pumping up the NIL funds - that these players remain at AZ. Without Fisch there, a brand new coach, and a number of key AZ team members flying the coup, are these guys really staying at AZ? Increase their NIL payout well then... AZ is the best, unfinished biz, etc. and so on.

Which also is reminder, not only do the coaches need to constantly re-recruit every key player EVERY year, the donors also likely need to up the NIL ante for many of these players... Imagine the $ war chests needed every year. The CFB game really needs some kind of NFL-like salary cap; otherwise, as many have said here, it's gonna be the same ole same ole of GA, OSU, and maybe now Ole Miss. What use is going to a 12-team CFP format if there is still an accumulation of talent in a handful of top teams (now tops in NIL $ raising)?

Never gonna happen but it would be wild to see Harvard and Yale be like FTW and jump into the fray.

Can’t even begin to imagine what their NIL fund would look like.
