No, they are not. Les not performing to that level, is!! Let's put it this way...
Les has one of the "best" teams in the country (talent wise) year in and out without the success of Saban and Meyer. He is a coach who gets great talent and sometimes has success. But of late...not so great.
He isn't the coach BK is, just gets good players and can't figure out how offense works...
So he's one of the 3 best recruiters. Agreed. But in everyone's thinking here - Miles should lose points for being a great recruiter and only winning more games than anyone since '05 and a championship. He must only be compared to the 2 best coaches won 3 each, not the other coaches who won one like Miles.
Miles is 61-17 since '10. Kelly is 55-23 since '10.
According to Sagarin, Miles did it against the #10 SOS on average
While Kelly did it against the #20 SOS on average.
They are both 3-3 in bowls, both lost to Bama in the NC game by 21 pts or more. Kelly won heads up.
As of late (last two years)
LSU is 17-8 vs. #14 & #13 SOS's (game w/ McNeese St cancelled - weather)
ND is 18-8 vs. #31 & #11 SOS's
To close:
From this day forward I guess Coach Holtz can no longer be held in the same regard here at IE and must now be labeled an overrated, under-achiever. In the same 11 year period he won 11 less games than Miles, was a top three recruiter like Miles that apparently wasted the talent because he only won 1 NC and couldn't get back to NC Game #2 like Miles because he lost at home to BC. He also had a pedestrian 5-4 bowl game record like Miles similar but slightly better 7-4 mark.
That's a shame because I always thought Coach Holtz was a HOF kinda coach.
