Tommy Vs. Golson...Not a question

Alright, I am actually shocked nobody has started a thread about this yet. We all saw today how Kelly called the game when Tommy was starting. Obviously, it was extremely conservative. If anyone out there thinks that Golson isn't the best option, you must be high. I don't want to hear about Tommy being the starter. however, without tommy we would not be 7-0. Tommy has done a great job coming in when needed and I respect him for that. However, I just don't see the upside! Golson allows Kelly to be more creative with the offense. 1. Golson gives the threat of running, he may not run much but he escapes the blitz and has the ability to make big plays with his feet. 2. opposing defenses can key in when Tommy is back there.....it scares me when they can pin their ears back and come after our guy with no recourse. I am still a believer in Everett and want to see a QB lead this team like a championship Qb would.....

Yet? There's probably a dozen threads on Tommy already. NDinL.A. shut some new ones down last Saturday night because they were so redundant. Tonight most people had their say in either the GameDay BYU thread or the Post Game BYU thread.

Kelly also put an exclamation point on it immediately after the game when Alex asked who would start the next game. Without hesitation, he said, "Golson". Next.

My bad for getting on late....However, I feel like Everett could have played (concussion or no concussion). Did Kelly play Tommy knowing what would his stats would look like today and put an end to this discussion. It sounds crazy because Kelly is coaching for his job and winning is the goal. However, the performance by Tommy today made me and probably more people realize that Golson has twice the upside of anyone on the roster as of right now....

Pretty tough to make that assumption considering we haven't seen everyone's favorite, Gunner Kiel yet. In the short term, Golson's the guy, but........

Yeah it is clear that Golson, Kiel, or Zaire is the future at QB and no doubt that Golson is the man this year. Golson could really be a star in the future if he continues to progress. I am however still waiting for the 1st of many long TD passes to Brown though. Maybe next week!

I dont think anyone started a thread because we all know the answer! Golson is clearly better than Reese and we need Golson to get better every game. I will say we are lucky we have Reese as a capable back up if needed though. Reese can and has come in and played well for a few series in the "Closer" role.

Hendrix came in and looked good running the ball today.. I thinkGolson would have caused them fits with his legs if he would of played!

Im happy to be 7-0 and you will not here any complaining out of me for any reason. Everyone on the team has had to step in and play or step up and make a play and they have so far. This ND team defines the word "TEAM".

Golson has the upside of keeping defenses honest, but he's young and has experienced a little bit of the ball control issues that plagued Rees when he was younger. Now Tommy has been better about protecting the football, but he hasn't produced as well with Floyd gone and just Eifert to go to for a big target. I like that we're sticking with Golson as starter and Tommy as closer. With lots of rep this year for Golson, GAIII, Daniels, and Niklas we'll hopefully have better production on offense next year...and we may need it with all the starters we're going to lose on both sides of the ball.

I don't know what to make of Kiel right now. That sign was interesting in the first place, he bounced around to three places and ended up at a place that actually does have some talent at QB, if he would have picked LSU or IU he may have started either now or as a redshirt freshman......I still think kelly has a softspot for everett..

His soft spot is for Tommy. That leash has at least been shorter this year and we don't let Tommy throw inside of the 10 yd line on 2nd or 3rd down.

Think about this...when Gunner is a Junior and Tommy is gone, Kelly can go back to a 2 QB system with Golson providing the experienced role and Gunner being the passing down guy.

If he has a soft spot for Tommy he has a damn tough time of showing it. Tommy has won four games for him and he Immediately states that Everett is the starter for the OU game.....maybe I can't read between the lines....

You're all over the place. Your original post states that EG is the starter without question and here we are still on the first page and now EG is the starter because Kelly has a soft spot for him. smh
