No It's not. We haven't won a Natty in 35 years and get smoked on the years we are competing for it. This is my same post to the Administration and BOT. Middle Finger up. Not at Tommy at our BOT and Admin.

Really odd timing if it were to happen.

Tommy has one of the best QBs in the country coming in '23 and the offense is set up to be dominant.

Alabama meanwhile, has to replace a Heisman winner at QB and they're working with very little proven production. I know it's Bama and all that, but that doesn't guarantee they're going to have an elite offense. Hell, the offense looked pedestrian more than a few times even with a talent like Bryce Young.

Seems to me that if Tommy is looking to make a jump to either HC or NFL OC in the not-so-distant future, he's better suited to stay at ND.

Serious question from a Notre Dame guy, but not a Notre Dame Man—how hard is it to get some football fans on the BoT? It shouldn’t be rocket surgery.

I’d back freeman and Hartman to be able to talk Kingsbury into a season at ND.

Does MFMF get autonomy to make the hire? He's come a long way in year one and I love how he finished.

He's literally already on this trajectory at Notre Dame. If he's leaving, it's either for a money grab or he is legit is not happy here.
I don't see it that way to the same extent.
There is a proven track record of being the Offensive Coordinator at Alabama the last Decade leading to those positions.
It is almost full proof
That would be a legit argument, but let's evaluate all of those OC's shall we?

Sark - He was a HC at Washington and USC, and coached under Pete Carroll prior to taking a HC gig. He went to Saban because his career flamed out and he's done less than stellar at UT.

Kiffin - Like Sark, was a HC with the Raiders, Tennessee and USC prior to joining Saban's crew and again, coached under Carroll at USC. He also had a very disappointing 3rd year at Ole Miss.

O'Brien - Like Sark and Kiffin, was a HC with Penn State and the Texans prior to joining Saban and coached under Bill Belichick and is now back there after just 1 season.

Locksley - Has been passable at Maryland, but nothing special, and like the other 3, already had a previous HC stint prior to Bama.

McElwain - The one legit brought up OC and while he had a good stint at CSU, he flamed out at Florida.

Hard for me to give a ton of credit to Saban, when 3/5 OCs were ready made and had already ran programs themselves.
Yes, that is all fair.

Take a second and try to look at this if you're Tommy.
One has to assume he aspires to be a Head Coach someday...which of the two programs almost guarantees you will have the shot someday at a high level if you succeed. As much as I love the Irish, I have to say that is Alabama by a mile.
It hurts to say, but I'm just trying to look at this objectively

It makes sense why he stayed with ND over Miami...but it is going to be much harder for him to pass up working for the most successful coach of most of our lifetimes in College Football. I agree with Piombino that money could very well be a close second as to why he makes the move as well. It's possible Alabama may offer him a guaranteed multi year contract at a million dollar per year raise. Saban has already been turned down by a reported candidate, he is probably becoming desperate a little.

Any interest in Dan Mullen if Rees bolts?

Weird dude, but his offenses have been very good. Also has a past with ND (albeit a long time ago).
No and he already said he doesn't want to coach right now.

I’d be all over Mullen and Moorhead. I’m curious to see if either are interested, though

Notre Dame Man? Blame the Admin and BOT for this. Does anyone actually believe ND will ever win a Natty again? I sure don't as long as the same people worship Monk Malloy's Mission. 90 percent of you adopt it and believe in it. It's just an excuse.
Tommy was there that night in Miami. He was there at the Rose Bowl in Dallas. If he chooses to go to Bama he’s not a Notre Dame man.

All of those guys that were successful OC's at Bama had one thing in common. They had 4&5 star Jimmy's and Joes.

So you want Notre Dame to be like every other school as long as they win football?

Monk Malloy really did a number on this program. Hard to stomach watching our coaches go to OSU, LSU and Bama. Tommy leaving there is the ultimate "Wave the the White flag" A National Championship can't be won under the current circumstances that the University puts the Football Program under.

Do you always take any chance you can get to overreact and bring up some weird piece on ND history?

But like I said, timing matters.

If Tommy was looking to make the jump 3-4 years down the line, then sure.

But I can see Tommy realistically trying to make the jump to either a head coach or NFL OC as early as next year.

In that case, why go to Bama? They're starting completely new on offense, with very little proven production and a new QB.

ND has Sam Hartman and a lot of talent returning on offense. It's an offense that can make him a massive commodity in '24.

Regardless if Tommy leaves or not, he should get on the plane and demand a raise. Just shows he's in high regard.

And here I was thinking that this would be a quiet off-season.

Man, it's like I forgot who this team was for a second there.
