Idk what he's gonna do, but the whole "Saban wanted me to be OC but I turned down Bama for ND" would probably work nicely in recruiting.
We all know what he's going to do. If you look at this from an objective point of view this is not a decision. Bama is the move.

The Bama 247 board is not pleased with these developments lol. *** New name emerges in OC search...
I think this is a good overall point though to this whole discussion.
The rest of the college football landscape believes Tommy was a Nepotism / Alma Mater hire at ND.
If he were to go to the biggest program in the country, and help them dethrone Georgia then he would likely have his pick of any job he wants (within reason).
I agree that is also possible if his offensive side of the ball leads ND to another College Football Playoff berth or better then he would have the same options.

I think we all just need to ask ourselves which scenario does Tommy believe is more plausible as of this moment.

Tommy did Notre Dame a major solid by sticking last year, and put up with a lot of shit talking from the fan base while navigating this season with a QB who was never supposed to see the field. If he wants to go I can’t say I blame him.

But also he finally has the weapons at ND next year to show what he can really do. I hope he stays and does just that.

This is why I don't really care what he does to be honest. I like Tommy and want him to stay, but the offense, assuming it stays intact is going to very good next year. I'd really like to see what Freeman does in hiring one and it has the potential to be an upgrade. I just didn't wanna see it this season.

TBF, he recruited that QB who was never supposed to see the field.

ND odds to win the College Football Title next year...courtesy of Draft Kings +2500 (11th behind Texas)
Bama is +500...second to Georgia.
I know gambling isn't everything, but it's as close to an unbiased third party we can find.

Alabama is a machine, and no matter who is playing Quarterback for them next year they will likely average over 30 points a game...and Tommy will be introduced to an entire new audience in the SEC if he is able to prove himself at the biggest program in the country.

I hope he stays, but if I were advising him I would probably tell him to go. Especially if it comes with a pay raise.
1) ND appears to be willing to match, so it won't come with a pay raise.

2) Alabama has been a machine, but nothing is guaranteed, and their offense was inconsistent last year, even with a Heisman winner at QB. Now, they're going to have to start from scratch. Sure a guy like Milroe or Simpson could end up being a stud. Key word there is COULD. Sam Hartman IS a stud.

If Tommy is looking to make a move in the not-to-distant future, then staying put, getting that pay raise, and riding Hartman to a huge offensive '23 seems like the move.

I guess that’s what the $2 million was for.

TBF, he recruited that QB who was never supposed to see the field.
And, went into the season with him as the back-up knowing full well of Buch's injury history. Going as far as to turn down interest from transfer QB's. Rees made that bed. But, I still want him back to see what he can do with this personnel.

Tommy has done a great job and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. He passed up Miami and LSU last year. The offensive talent is in the room for whoever is the coach. Guy won 9 games last year with a QB who needed a trampoline to touch the Play Like a Champion Today sign. People notice.

Saban has lost it. Didn’t he watch Tommy’s interception call against South Carolina. “Interception left on 2, break!”
Lmao exactly, imagine calling that play and then getting flown to Bama almost one month to the day later.

According to a poster on the Bama 247 board, Saban isn't even in Tuscaloosa today. He was on a plane with his daughter and wife and grandkids on the way to vacation. Kind of weird.

Saw a tweet jokingly saying David Shaw should be new OC lol

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I mean, he's a great offensive playcaller. But, I don't think he has the desire to be the recruiter that Freeman demands.

Shaw is better off in the NFL at this point in his career.

I was just joking. Tommy did a very good job this year working to the team’s strengths with mediocre at best qb’s. After the o line was a disaster to start the year you could see his schemes working later in the year.

How would this interview work, unless he already took the job and just wants to see the place in person?
