I know we're all upset, but you don't have to apply Tommy's shitty offense to everything.

Mr. Moore was chasing the bag, plain and simple. He didn't care about anything else.

The visit to ND was to lock up their spot until someone else got the message and started a bidding war. They got what they wanted, and ND got screwed.

It had nothing to do with ND's actual on-field offerings.
I heard this on two different podcasts. One was Lucky Lefty and I forget the other one.
I'm sure upfront money was an issue as well.

The majority of casual football fans 1) understand screen passes and 2) hear commentators talk about them. It's a way of sounding smart.

They are unstoppable in NCAA 15, thus underused in real life.

Was refreshing, but to be fair I found it interesting how, in the same breath, he dogged Foskey for getting in teammates' faces on the sidelines.

He was more upset with Foskey's effort during the game and that didn't earn him the right to be pissed so late in the game and it happened so late in the game.

I listened to the Mike Goolsby podcast and loved how he put a lot of the blame on the players and emphasized that they need to hold each other accountable. I also liked how he was puzzled watching other college games and gave the example of Ga St vs Nebraska and how their QB was slinging the rock around and the offense was moving the football. It is my opinion that we don’t need a gadget offense but something that fits the players we are recruiting would be key. I don’t think Rees has the ability to call plays that matches who is in the locker room. Rees also has a poor track record in the QB development department.
Goolsby is the best

I sincerely hope that he'll be able to turn the offense around with Pyne and/or Angeli, since a lot of people who are smarter than us that cover the team say he's a smart OC.

Call me crazy, but I expect him to call a good game on Saturday. Whether or not the offensive players execute it is another question.

Idk about the other one, but I know that Malik is a notorious flip-flopper, like moment-to-moment-on-Twitter flip-flopper.

The guy didn't like how things turned out for himself at ND, and now he can't decide if it's appropriate to blame the current team and staff or not. He wants to take ownership of ND when things look okay, but also can't help but criticize (sometimes needlessly, sometimes with poorly thought-out reasons) the moment things go sideways.

Malik really is just a message board fanboy with a big Twitter following and a podcast.

We should invite him to register here. He would fit right in.

I think the issue with Foskey is that he's getting in people's faces while also not doing his job on the field. Can't be a leader if you aren't producing yourself.

He dogged him because Foskey did that after the defense gave up that long drive. He was saying the time for that was past, and Foskey was a no show when it counted.

He was more upset with Foskey's effort during the game and that didn't earn him the right to be pissed so late in the game and it happened so late in the game.
I hear what you all are saying, but if Foskey felt they needed a fire lit under their ass, was he supposed to wait until after he got a sack or something. And how do we know he wasn't including himself in the lambasting?

I have no idea how this offense is going to be able to move the ball moving forward.

We no longer can run any sort of legitimate read option (or threat of), we cant run straight qb powers/sweeps/etc, nothing is going to change in regards to the way defenses are playing our passing game and if anything dont even need to respect the ability of a scramble, our OL isnt going to be miraculously better at getting a push/creating holes.

Keep in mind that Tommy is coaching for his job over the next 10/11 games. I think this could light a fire under his ass.

i dont see how that changes our roster and it's abilities though.

The only thing we can do is just absolutely force feed Mayer and Tyree.

Get the ball to Mayer, Styles, and Tyree in space. Create space through RPOs, misdirection, and using exotic formations.

I think you have to hope that Pyne can run a quick passing game, circa 2018 Ian Book. Which keeps the defense on their heels enough to slightly improve the ground game. For as much as Buch "shortened" his release and blew up his mechanics in the name of having a "quicker" release, he was ass in the short passing game.

Pyne has shown some ability to operate in that sphere to some degree.

We have four different qbs and they are all different in build and style. There is no rhyme or reason. What kind of qb does ND want?

The offense also has no rhyme or reason. We run multiple personnel groups and change our offense for each opponent. You can do that in the NFL but not in college. We do nothing really well or are dominant in and do everything 'ok'. What kind of offense does ND want?

There is no rhyme or reason. You ask people what certain programs run most years and people can tell you. Air Raid, etc. You ask folks what ND runs and they cant tell you. I asked 15 college football fans today what offense ND runs. 14 said 'I don't know and one said 'Pro Style?'
I asked these same guys(2 gals)what offense USC runs. 13 said 'Air Raid' and 2 said 'pro style."

We have no identity. We don't know what we want to do. Who wants to be part of that? Honestly, would you send your son to play qb or any skill position at ND other than TE?

I haven't listened enough, but what I have heard didn't really do it for me. He played in one of the worst eras of ND Football of my lifetime and I don't even recall him getting a cup of coffee in an NFL training camp.

He certainly is opinionated, I'll give him that.

Not sure what if anything can be done during the season but Rees has failed at too many facets for too long.. our highly ranked QBs are clueless out there.. the play calling is limited bc of that.

And it’s been years of poor development at the most critical position.

Maybe we’re overreacting & Tommy will put it together but Buchner’s ability the passing game is wretched.. and how long has he been in the program?

Pyne was a top 10 Pro QB coming out of HS.. where is the development?

Coan was polished, Book was a gamer with quick feet that scrambled on almost every play..

We desperately need a QB guru for Carr & this ship righted asap or I fear this becomes Clausen/Weis where this kid is a stud but everything around him is piss poor..

So we give RP lll a scholly but not JT Daniels??

Did Rees think he was upsetting TB, Dante or The Carrs???

Meanwhile Kelly has a very full QB room and is not stopping. Ugh

Giving RP3 a full ride was the craziest scholarship decision since Bruce Heggie. Probably worse because of how valuable QB scholarships are.

Rees wants the ones that pass his quizzes and tests with the highest score. Physical ability is comes second. They get the smiley face and no competition for their spot.

ND OC job interview

  1. Oregon, Tennessee, etc. are going to out NIL for a QB.
  2. Can't use the portal or JUCO
  3. Your players are going to have to go to class but they'll be okay for 40 years after
  4. The majority of the fanbase who have the internet are smarter than you
  5. The guy before you used to play here and was hired due to nepotism.
Sound good, Mr. Frost?
