The problem with Kelly hiring Rees as his OC is that he *had* to hit with that hire. If he didn’t, then it would be extremely hard to see him firing his star QB and coaching protege. It’s just a terrible look all around.

I don’t know that it’s hit and now I don’t know what you do if you’re Kelly and Notre Dame.

Nothing... If it gets too bad Kelly will take total control and Rees will collect a check. I do not see Kelly getting rid of him.

I firmly believe that Rees is a very smart football mind. And, I think he has a future in coaching. I really do. But, I think he’s shown that in recruiting and coaching, he’s having troubles handling everything that goes into being an OC. He’s not been able to put together complete offenses and that should be the standard. Some games, some quarters, sometimes but not consistently.

Rees is learning on the job. As a QB he tended to over think and lose the moment. He’s doing the same now. Too much thinking not enough doing.

When I was about to graduate from college in asked my dad if I could work for his financial institution. He told me no. He said it would be far too awkward for his subordinates to discipline or fire me.

I was pissed at the time. But i get it now. BK hired a former player. And I'm not blaming Tommy for today, but you don't hire people you have an attachment to. It doesn't work.

The worse I’ve seen out of this young man. Started at the 5 on the first drive, and got worse. He’s bad

Josh Heupel, in his fifth game at UT, had his offense drop 62 points on the road against an SEC team.

Is building an offense really that difficult? Or only at ND?

So was Tommy in Kelly’s ear saying put Drew in and his request was denied or were both coaches stubbornly saying we need to stick it out with Jack? Kelly flushed the first half down the toilet, shameful. Any tidbits from the post game presser? Did anyone challenge Kelly?

Kelly got this hire wrong. Rees needed another few years as an offensive assistant or analyst. Or maybe...I don't know... being an offensive coordinator somewhere else before trying it at Notre fu*king Dame!

He said they had no thoughts about sitting Coan in the first half. Which is a problem.

So the square peg in round hole over and over. We seem to be the only team in the country that constantly uses this approach other than Paul Chryst at Wisconsin.

It’s not his fault. ND could’ve outbid Oregon for Joe Moorhead. Instead they gifted Rees a job he was extraordinarily unqualified for. I would take that job too.

The Rees hire as OC was maybe the laziest thing I’ve ever seen. No national search or anything. Just BK waddling his fat arse 10 feet down the hallway to Rees’ office to promote him. It’s fitting, though. A boring hire for what has been a boring offense for years.

If your son was a potential NFL QB would you want him to get coached by Rees and Kelly? Would you have confidence in them to maximize his potential?

I was on the "let's see what he has" train while being nervous about the hire, assuming Kelly knows more than I do. He does; however, this was clearly a mistake. Question is will we see decisions made a la 2015 Kelly or 2016 Kelly after this season...

Josh Heupel just dropped 62 points on an SEC team not named Vanderbilt in game 5 with a transfer QB. Why can't we get offensive minds like that at ND?

JFC, Tennessee has been a train wreck for 15 years, one game and you hold them up as an example of where we should be?

Let me know when Kelly drops 62 on a power 5 school.......ever.

Yes it's one game. Game 5 of his tenure. His offense looks light years ahead of Kelly's offense in season 12.....or any season.

It's an example NDRock. You don't have to grind out victories and be a place where QB's die. Tennessee, which has been a train wreck for 15 years, already has a more capable offense than ND.

By the way, Milton was dumped for Hooker a couple of games ago. Heupel knows when to cut bait. Kelly is still learning.

Looked great the week before when they didn’t score the last 40 minutes and got blown out by a rival.

This offense was never going to take off behind this OL, at least not with Coan at QB. Hell, Trevor Lawrence would have a hard time behind this line. We can't run the ball this year, and Coan has unfortunately been running for his life. In the post game radio show they've pointed out that Coan has unfortunately developed some bad habits as a result of the poor OL play, one being stepping up into the pocket too early. Our interior linemen were getting trucked into our own backfield yesterday, it was depressing. Any other year Coan would probably be a great QB for us, but if you're not controlling the trenches you're going to have a hard time scoring. Rees isn't the problem. We should see some improvement if Pyne becomes starter, he can move the pocket and avoid some sacks.

Please Tommy, more zone read with Coan because there's a real chance he might keep one, LOLOLOL

You say that, yet he scored against Michigan on a keeper to win the game. They'll never see it coming.

How do you get recruited to top D1 schools for LAX and not have any footwork or speed?

A few years in Wisconsin can make you slow. Plus the B1G West is pretty bad so you don't have to worry as much about your life when you're behind a big Wisconsin OL.
