I don’t think Parker called plays. I know while he was there they said it was shared responsibility but this year they made a deal out of Brown giving up play calling for Harrell, which means Neal Brown was calling plays prior.

Parker being promoted to OC is a move Freeman makes if he wants to eventually be fired. He was terrible at West Virginia.
Realistically can it get any worse? Give Parker a shot that way you know what you have by the off-season and can find a real replacement assuming he’s a flop too.

I don’t think this guy should be considered for a offensive coordinator job if a plague wiped out half of the oc‘s in the country.

Not to pile on but Tommy is a lot of things; soft isn’t one of them.

He never should have been Kelly’s best option at QB but that’s not his fault.

The QB situation for the past 12 years is just so revolting. ND is basically the Browns.
QB and WR. Some seasons we're lucky if we have one good #1 receiver. Closest thing we had to two good receivers under BK was TJ Jones and Davaris Daniels. Never had a season where two receivers eclipsed 1,000 yards, and a number of seasons we had no receiver hit the mark. Disappointing. It's no wonder teams load the box against us.

Tate/Floyd probably the last very good combination.

I like it, Kid missed the easiest throw on the field 2 times and looked awful while doing it.

Pyne is an adult not doing his job. man we baby these players sometimes. We’re talking about not hitting wide open throws, not catching a snap. Not being able to throw a 2 yard pass.
There’s a time and a place for everything. Some one gives up an easy block, or jogs when they should be sprinting across he Felix? Sure, light a fire under their ass.

A QB missing throws? What, you also gonna rip into a kicker when he shanks it?

It’d say we are in time and place territory to yell at FR in HS mistakes

Confidence in himself and the mental aspect of the game has never been his problem. It came naturally to him thanks to both nature and nurture. Major strength for the “Little QB that could”. Huuuuuge red flag for someone who is in a leadership position over people who NEED support and development when he finds that part of the game a boring waste of his time.

Reminds of companies I’ve worked with and for who promote the best individual contributors into management positions without leadership training. You get exactly this kind of disjointed BS.

Out of curiosity does anyone know what kind of governance is in place for coaching selections, either at ND or at this level in general? MUCH smaller organizations than Notre Dame Football (EV ~$1bn) are held by their boards to standards around succession, credentials, experience, etc. Would be interested to see what that looks like for a football team at the collegiate in general and especially for one like ND. Doesn’t mean they can’t/should hire/promote talented but inexperienced individuals, but at least have some kind of roadmap for their development as leaders.

Thought he called a good game all things considered. Got Pyne some easy throws early (that he didn’t execute) and then was able to cobble together a very vanilla game plan the rest of the way that moved the ball well and didn’t ask too much of Pyne.

Playcalling was fine today but they either need to get Angeli ready or hunt mismatches on the outside and throw 50/50s downfield against good teams. They won’t get away with throwing basically every pass in the flats all year. That’s gonna be the first thing taken away going forward.
