According to the news, they left a $5K tip before the game and then did the same thing after the game. The three bartenders split it three ways.

I'm not sure Jesus is very thrilled about people leaving tips at a bar instead of giving to their church, or even to a charity.

I believe just the opposite. Giving directly to the people, whether they are in a bar or not, would probably be his preference. Today's church has so much overhead that the gift would get swallowed up and not get to the intended recipient. Same with a charity. Have you seen how much money the CEO of United Way makes?

Not to get too theological, but Jesus did like to hang with a pretty rough crowd.

tell me about it dude, over here we have a big ongoing scandal as it emerged that charity donations going to childrens hospitals were being used to top up the salaries of Senior Managers at the Hospitals and the Charities themselves..unreal. These guys are already on 6 figures

Well I'd probably choose a different route to give, but what the heck, to each their own......hopefully the recipients are using it well.

After the 9/11 scandal, I won't give a dime to the United Way. I will stick to my Catholic Diocese and church.
