If you guys don't think JC is not going to start next year, you are crazy. There is no way Jimmy doesn't start next year. I will bet anything he starts.
Yes, we know. You've offered this bet before. Nobody is guaranteed until one earns it on the field. On the field in South Bend, that is. Nobody is being given any spot. You can't deny JC's talent. And he may very well end up starting. But that has not yet been decided at this early stage.
Weis wants to win. If Opening day 2007 comes along and one of Jones, Frazer or Sharpley offers a stronger chance to win that day, they will be the starter. If it's JC, it will be him. Until all of them are working with the same receivers in the same offense against the same defenders, it is too early to judge.
The numbers in Frazer's junior year rivaled anything JC ever put up, and against at least equal competition. (Remember, JC plays in one of the weakest divisions in CA, though their schedule is tougher this year) And he never had anywhere near the supporting cast JC has.
Jones offers athleticism that none of the others can match. I also like the attitude and leadership he portrays. Not to mention, his arm is as strong as any of them, though he is not as mechanically refined as JC at this point. Let's see how that looks in a year.
Sharpley will have the advantage of a couple years in the system and after this season he will probably have played some mop up time against live competition, not just a practice defense. He was more highly rated coming out of HS than Brady Quinn. He's not exactly chopped liver.
All three of the above are highly rated. Yes, JC has been dubbed the Lebron of football and scouts are drooling over him, etc. etc., but it still has to be earned at the college level. Scout had Brady as the 14th best QB in his class. Here is the top 10 with the schools they signed with that year.
1. John David Booty (USC)
2. Kyle Wright (Miami)
3. Chris Leak (FL)
4. JaMarcus Russel (LSU)
5. Tommy Grady (OKLA)
6. Robert Lane (Ole Miss)
7. Justin Midgett (FL)
8. Dennis Dixon (OR)
9. Omarr Conner (Miss. St.)
10. TC Ostrander (Stanford)
This list was a prediction of who would be the best QB's in that class and was compiled by the same guys who have crowned JC. Anybody on that list you'd rather have than Brady? I didn't think so. There are only a couple I'd consider over Brady circa 2004.
Sam Keller was 38th in that list and may be one of the top 5 QB's of this class when all is said and done. Drew Tate was 40th!.
In 2002, Troy Smith was 14th. Drew Stanton was 15th. I'd rank Stanton now as the second best of that class after #1 Vince Young.
2004- Are Rhett Bomar, Xavier Lee, Anthony Morelli, Chad Henne and Kirby Freeman better than #6 Brian Brohm? Not by a long shot.
JC may ultimately be the guy, and we all hope he earns his accolades, but to crown him right now based on what internet scouts say is crazier than any of us saying he may not start.
Here's hoping he wins two Heismans

and a coule titles to match, but let's let him line up against other highly thought of guys before making any definate statements about who will start.
