“No intention of pulling out.”

I realize Texas is throwing a hissy fit threatening to cancel games but how is that even a question? We have a contract with the ACC. Miami’s in the ACC. They have to play us in South Bend eventually.

If ND beat Miami we would have had the same number of wins as Duke and could have qualified for the ACC final if allowed.
Maybe ND should negotiate with the ACC to say have another game (7 rather than the 6 this year..I thought it was supposed to be 5?) but we are eligible to play in the conference final - if we win all 7. And if ND makes the play offs the ACC gets 25% of the loot.

Can ND schedule a 13th game to give them an extra data point going forward?
Honestly, Bevacqua should call up Miami's AD this morning, book a stadium someplace in the middle and schedule a game for Saturday night. Could you imagine?
It would blow all these stupid conference championship games out of the water and no way they don't put the winner in the playoffs.

I think ND should consider quitting the ACC and negotiating some sort of deal with the American conference.
We play 7 games in their conference (inclusive of Navy each year) and if we win them all we qualify for their conference final.

What? Yeah replace NC State with Tulsa, add an EXTRA conference affiliated game (currently 5 with ACC), and effectively become a member of a G5 conference.

Last week was join the ACC and force them to accept Navy. This week it's join a G5 conference. Next week, is it going to be join the FCS to be in the playoffs every year?

You want to become a G5 school?

It would mean the remaining 5 games we really need to lock in top notch teams.
You would think for example USC, OSU, Bama, Texas, Clemson most years would deliver at least 2 top 10 ranked teams.
This gets us out of the ACC - who, in my opinion, are grubs and the other sports could join the conference in full (not that I care).
I like it.

I would consider us to be independent, as we are now.
I don't really know what G5 means but I guess it isn't good.
So long as it doesn't effect recruiting and ND can make the play offs if they win 11 games and are out of the ACC I'd be fine with it.

G5 scheduling would mean we would be viewed even weaker with our games.

ND are in the FBS (Football Bowl Series) of Division 1 football.

Within the FBS, there are the big important programs (the teams in the four "Power 4" (P4) Conferences+ND) and the six "Group of 6" (G6) conferences - the smaller, less important programs.

You're advocating for them to join a G6 conference. It would absolutely negatively affect recruiting and how much money they make in donations and media rights, which would drop to relatively nothing. ND would become irrelevant instantly.

This is not a serious discussion point.

Okay, I am bailing. I don't care, I am just desperately trying to get us out of the ACC while remaining independent, which, by the way, my suggestion is doing - not joining the G5.
Who else is coming up with ideas?

This is after hearing the news we are locked into some dogshit ACC bowl game and cannot play in a decent one which doesnt sound "independent" to me at all.

We are quasi-independent. When a conference dictates almost half you schedule you cannot call that indy.

Google.com is an excellent resource for finding quick information fast. You can always try prompts like “College football conferences” or “bowl game tie ins” and you’ll find those answers a lot easier than “coming up ideas” on a forum dedicated to college football.
