"The first time I walked to the stadium, I cried, it was so nice," Shepard said. "I love that school. I wear green and gold proud."

I did the same thing! Except I was a drunk fan.

Edit: Clashmore, we duel quoted.

Apparently something funny happened when Luginbill was interviewing Chad Kelly. Not sure what happened but I saw this on his twitter, thought it was kinda funny.

Did anyone else just see @tomluginbill #douche it up during his big interview with Chad Kelly at the Nike 7ON?

@TomLuginbill
Tom Luginbill @mattmegrue I did, I lived it!

Kid straight up called him a douche.

Basically, he tried to do an interview on the field while the game was still going on. So some off screen 7on7 coaches start hollering at him to get the eff off the field and he gets all flustered... which leads to a really curt and awkward one question interview with Chad Kelly before they tossed it back upstairs.

Haaa.. you got me. It didn't sound right when I posted it. I didn't see the usual grammar police in the thread, so I let it fly.

Big whoop, so what... Wanna fight about it??

I chuckled. I could see it all: Who'saWildMan and Clashmore standing back to back in a misty field at dawn, laptops in hand. They each take ten paces, turn, type like mad and melodramatically click on the "Submit Reply" button.

They missed.

Greenberry has been making plays all day again. Making some great catches on poorly thrown balls. Also just had a game-ending interception on Zach Kline (how bout them apple "Cali 5"???)

Also, he's doing all of this with an ND beanie on his head :)

This event is taking place across town (Portland) from me. Maybe I should go point out to the young buck that ND's colors are Blue and Gold? There's no Green&Gold Illustrated, now is there?

New action on ESPNU right now. Alpha Talon vs. Field Generals to get to the championship. I'm pretty sure, based on tweets, that Alpha Talon won and is now playing Vapor Carbon in the championship. Players of note include:

Alpha Talon
Justin Ferguson
Armani Reeves (target - ND has a good chance with him and he has been doing some solid work this whole week)
Terry Richardson (Michigan commit - been kinda sucking...)
Nelson Agholor (target - USC/Florida school lean and very smooth athlete)

Field Generals
Tee Shephard
TJ Davis (target - ND lean and had some good plays yesterday)

TJ Davis with the easy pick. Followed up by Armani Reeves getting beat deep by Cyrus Jones.

SPOILER ALERT!

Alpha Talon wins the championship. Pissed that Deontay & Co. didn't get it done when they were undefeated to that point.

Final thoughts on The Opening:
-All Notre Dame players showed up in a big way. Especially Deontay, Tee and Perkins. Harrel got good reviews as an OL and seems to be a great fit as an interior OL. Ferguson, when it mattered most, also had both TDs for Alpha Talon to win the championship. His last catch was awesome and drew comparisons to Michael Floyd from the ESPN talking heads.

-ND targets, as a whole, performed well.
-Bryce Treggs was a total baller despite his small stature... too bad we missed out on him, but with him still planning on taking officials we can get back in it.
-Armani Reeves was also impressive and TJ Davis was solid. Adding either one of them would be fantastic.
-Sheldon Day getting DL MVP is pretty crazy awesome. Really hope we land him now I was not expecting that.
-Chad Kelly was not impressive... but then again, QB runs aren't a part of 7on7 and that is a big part of his game. Able to understand how ND passed on him with the guys on our roster right now.

-Michigan recruits (with the exception of Magnuson who I didn't follow how he did) were pretty bad. Heard literally nothing positive on anyone and a good bit of negative.
-Also didn't notice any USC commits doing well... an exception being Agholor who is considered by many a USC lean.
-"Duke" Johnson is going to be a royal pain in the *** to defend when we play Miami.

I thought Mickens the USC committ looked pretty good, other than that you nailed it.

Yeah I didn't list him because everyone at USC thinks he's going to decommit lol

Also, ESPN talking heads in the wrap up keep talking about how Notre Dame players performed very well throughout The Opening. LOVE IT! So glad they put this on TV... very rarely do you get to watch these guys we read so much about. Beats the hell out of 3 minute Youtube highlight films.

I agree with this. I'm not sure where I missed it but I didn't remember hearing Tee's name called too much. Deontay and Ferguson were impressive. Perkins perfromed well in the SPARQ challenge, having the best 6.5 lb throw at 44'.

Duke was fun to watch but this was one hand touch. Let's see if he keeps dancing like that when T'eo is chasing him down and he jukes back into him. (yes, T'eo will be back)

If you search Twitter for Tee Shepard you'll see a lot of tweets about how well he did. Apparently he had some awesome interceptions and the guys at Scout listed him as one of the ~5 most impressive players. Sadly, in the televised games, Tee didn't really get thrown at much.

I did read some of those...it's one of those things as a DB where not having your name is a good thing because they aren't even trying to throw at you.

It was great they televised this...makes it feel like college football is already here.

What did you think of Deontay wearing that knit cap today? Had to be hot as hell. They must have been sold out of all the other ND hats.

Shepard and Greenberry made the All-Tournament team.

Landon Collins, Justin Ferguson shine at The Opening - ESPN
The 7on All-Tournament team was Travis Blanks (Tallahassee, Fla./North Florida Christian), Cyrus Jones (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School), Johnathan Gray (Aledo, Texas/Aledo), Mangum, Kelly, Deontay Greenberry (Fresno, Calif./Washington Union), Marcus Maye (Melbourne, Fla./Holy Trinity Episcopal), Bryce Treggs (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) and Tee Shepard (Fresno, Calif./Central).

"Duke" Johnson also impressed me very much. Should be a fun series beginning in Chicago in 2012.

Also, we need to get in on that Henry kid who is going into his junior year from Florida.

He always said "might"... which makes me think we're sitting good with two of TJ Davis, Armani Reeves, Sheldon Day and William Mahone. I'll take it.

Too bad on Treggs. That kid could be one hell of a slot player.

Do you see any of them committing soon? Also IMO I still think Mahone has psu in the lead
