Anybody think this move may force ND to pack up shop and take it's sports elsewhere? I may be in the minority on this, but I want Notre Dame to join a conference for all it's sports. I'd love to see the Irish go to the ACC. Football included

the only way that happens is if the big east collapses and it looks like the big east has options for adding teams

What's the best guess before the BCS officially announces the Big East is no longer an automatic bid? Looks like other conferences then will be allowed to have a 3rd team make it into the big games.

Big East is going to die as a football conference but will add Butler, Xavier, and Richmond and be an awesome non-football conference.

I would love that could ND stay in the conference if it was everything but football

Louisville, West Virginia and Cincy are all looking to leave the big east. Those are the only heavy hitters they have less (Minus USF). It's a pure basketball conference now. I think ND needs to be proactive and make a decision quick before the bigeast turns into the MAC 2.0

That would be interesting. Is that just your opinion, or is there legit chatter to that? My opinion is that, because football money trumps all other money, they may try and add ECU and UCF, and also some myriad of Houston/SMU/Southern Miss/Army/Navy. They then could claim they're a bona fide football conference (they're not) and hang onto their AQ status. Again though, this is just an opinion.

There has been initial contact with the Big 12 and ND. The author of a story on 24/7 puts the odds at "not great, but definately not a long shot".

The Big 12 is probably flexible enough to accept ND as a non-football member if only to raise their chances of getting the football program if ND does decide throw away independence.

I really like ND as an independent in football, but the ever-changing landscape may force them to join a conference eventually. All depends on what kind of the deal the BCS is willing to accept with them.

Aside from that I think all this conference realignment is really taking away from the incredible product that is the games and these young men that work so hard to perform on Saturdays. CFB is about the players and the games, not this jockeying for position that ADs and Conference commissioners are creating.

Im very suprised that Texas is ok with TCU joining the Big 12. That's been the hold up for years. Interesting to say the least. New Big 12 commish seems to be getting work done.

I've seen it around. I don't know if there is a lot of substance but it would make the most sense. Andy Katz had an article recently with it in it. It's been a dream of mine but now it looks like it could happen. It'd be a great conference.

ECU, UCF, Houston, SMU, Army, Navy, and all of those mid-majors won't save the conference. Teams will be leaving faster than they can add.

I think it's amazing that this time a month ago we were talking about the Big 12's imminent end as a conference and now we are talking about the potential of ND joining them (albeit as a non-football member). There's still a lot that's gonna go down with these conferences before it is all over.

I would rather ND go to the ACC, easier road in my option, you would have to deal with VT, Miami, ect., but I think that would be an easier conference schedule than the B12 with Texas, OU and yes TCU (if that comes through) and forget about the B10, all the **** that has gone down with ND and the B10 over the years, I think that JS will try everything that he can go avoid the B 10 move, even though I kinda would like that. I just think that an ACC move is an easier conference schedule to navigate.
