Totally different game is correct. It was knock down drag out fights back then. Today's players have much more freedom on offense which is to Curry's advantage. Bird could shoot from the outside, but he also had a very good mid-range jumper. A better comparison might be Pistol Pete instead of Larry Legend.

Shooting only, I'll do the Bird / Curry comparisons. On this year alone Curry stands alone without question.

Up until this year you could compare Curry's career with the 4 years ('85-'88) that Larry actually used the 3 as a significant part of his game when he shot 41-42% then.

Maravich averaged .441 for his career. He played with the 3pt shot the last three years of his career. 10-15, 7-11 and 3-4. The low number of attempts indicate how the NBA coaches were slow to incorporate the 3 into the game as a resistance to the ABA style.

On a side note in 79 I was having a debate with a guy that was a Bulls fan. He was saying the ABA had been a joke league and didn't have any good players. I then mentioned some of the top players in the NBA that year were Dr. J, George McGinnis, George Gervin, Moses Malone and Spencer Haywood. All products of the ABA.

I read the difference in winning percentage going into the game was largest ever in NBA history.

Wonder what the criteria for that stat was, because technically a 1-0 team playing an 0-1 team, or something like that, would be. Probably after the break, or at least 50 games played, etc.

Westbrook just tied Draymond Green with season triple doubles with 25 pts, 20 assists, and 11 rebs game. All while playing great elite defense.

11 triple doubles total this year.

How far was it from a quadruple double? I'll put the over under on TO's at 8.

7 TOs. Curry had 3, against one of the best (if not the best) defenses in the league, but failed to score much, going 4-12.

MW's a great physical talent but he's the guard version of Dominique. He's got the stats, he's got the highlights but in the end someone else has the W.

Yep, DW was always an All Star, but never a champion.

Better all around player.

On ball Defense - Westbrook
Blocks - Westbrook
Steals - Westbrook
Assist to turnover - Westbrook
Rebounding - Westbrook
Scoring - Curry

#1 Lebron
#2 Westbrook
#3 Durant
#4 Curry

If you mean better by scoring then yes I would agree. But overall, Westbrook is a legit two way player and is elite in all aspects of his game.

He's #21 in AST/TO ratio because he's #2 in the league in TO's and leading the league in TO's per possession and TO per min.

He's also just a career 43% shooter and 30% from 3. Though his Eff FG % is the highest it's ever been right now at .493.

He turns it over too much for PG, especially one with another superstar on the team who is more efficient offensively.
