You couldn’t project his father to low level FBS at this point in his life either.

Alt was a 245 lbs, low 3 Star TE at this point in his life.

Genetics matter.
Alt was also already 6'6+ and Urlacher 6'3/6'4. Those guys needed to gain weight and develop a skillset. Not do both and get taller, lol. Expecting things to happen that are outside of ones control, should not be a recruiting strategy.

To be fair, Urlacher was like 5'9 and 160 pounds as a sophomore and by the time he was wrapping up his senior year, he was 6'4 and 200.

Alt was already tall, but Urlacher definitely had to grow an insane amount in the span of about 2 years. Kennedy is about 6'0 now, so it's not unreasonable to think he adds another inch or two in the next year.

I'm having Drew Pyne flashbacks.

LOL he wasn't, but it's been repeatedly talked about how they tried to project some growth based upon some family height. He never grew another inch.

Another reminder daddy pyne done goofed by marrying a short woman

It's so true, I get ND email notifications about such and such for Class of '25 LB or Edge excited about this x, y, z.... Yawn, most of these just aren't happening. Something has to change in ND's approach or we'll just continue to be top 12-15 class and #7-12 finish in FBS standings every year, respectable but not what anyone here wants. Oh the day....

It’s extremely unreasonable to expect him to grow 1 or 2 more inches in height going into his senior year… that’s not even close to the norm

His father was not even close to the norm. Genetics play a huge factor in this kind of stuff.

Most boys will have their growth spurts between 12-15. Brian had his later and it took him longer to reach his final height. It's definitely not unreasonable to think a similar situation could happen with Kennedy, since he has his dad's genes. It's not a guarantee, but it's certainly not absurd either.

I think the expanded playoff gives a team like Notre Dame an opportunity to win a few big games to pick up some recruiting momentum for upcoming years. But the key is to make the expanded playoff first, then do something Notre Dame has not been good at lately, and winning a meaningful bowl game. In the past just simply being a top 10 team themed like a consolation prize if you are not top four. I think winning at least one, maybe two playoff games can go a really long ways in recruiting.

I just clicked on 247's Commitments page and they show us with 7 4 star players and 14 3 stars. What's up with that? They are not the composite rankings, I'm not sure what rankings they are.

247 is showing their own rankings now.

And Andrew Ivins has most of ND’s class as 3 Stars.
He’s garbage.
He is a reporter, not a scout, who somehow got named the Director of Scouting for 247.
He has no background in coaching or scouting. He is a blogger & reporter.
He worked a year at BGI, covering ND, as a Miami fan & openly bashed ND & its fans to others at BGI & couldn’t wait to leave. He has bashed ND since & made it clear back then he thought it was funny to mess with ND fans.
When he took over the rankings at 247, before he did anything, people who worked with him in the past warned ND fans he would drop ND commits & consistently have them lower than the other services as long as he was in charge.
They were right.

Just flipped on IB’s YouTube show and they said that as of now they don’t anticipate ND targeting any other LB’s in the 2024 class. I’m not sure what our chances actually are with Shaw, but man, I would still try and get him. I see a more athletic Te’von Coney.

It’s likely based off the last 6 years of composite team rankings that by simply adding Lambert they end up in the top 10.

Flip Beasley or someone comparable and they probably end up in the 7-9 range

Recruiting is unpredictable, but I'm firmly convinced that Beasley is going to flip. Way too much smoke there for it not to happen.

If the roles were reversed, we'd absolutely be convinced that Beasley wasn't going to sign with us. I think he visits for Ohio State and flips soon after. I think he loved ND, but made a rash decision to commit to Tennessee while they were hot and is looking to find a spot to flip.

This is essentially going to be a Peyton Bowen situation, albeit I have to hope Beasley handles his situation a lot better than Bowen did.
