Like hammer, as long as this story ends with Stanford falling back to the earth, I don't much care about the narrative of how or why it happened.



Don't really have a dog in this fight. The former is one of the few true innovators who's still coaching, and he's always entertaining. Shaw rode Harbaugh's coat-tails hard and is one of the most obnoxious coaches in the game. Leach probably gets more credit than he's due because of his cult of personality, and Shaw probably gets more hate than he's due because he's a whiny bitch. C'est la vie :shrug:

Personally, I like to be entertained.

Strip out the hatred and like him, hate him or don't care either way, I think Shaw is a pretty good coach. His last three years do raise some eyebrows and may be an indicator that his best days are behind him.

The Egg Bowl at minimum should be a hoot.
Just Leach vs Kitten is enough for me to tune in.

That's freaking hilarious. I know for a fact that pissed off Kiffin too. I have several funny stories of Kiffin at Tennessee from former managers. One of the managers asked Kiffin on their first day if the cones were set up correctly for an upcoming drill.

In 19 years of coaching, Mike Leach has a total of two 10 win seasons in his career. Good coach, and entertaining both on and off the field, but I wouldn't say he is elite. I do like coaches that have a track record at multiple schools. What he did at Wash St. is definitely impressive, but he was only marginally better than his predecessor at TTech, Spike Dykes (.607 W% vs .550, or about 3/4 a game improvement in a standard 13 game bowl season).

David Shaw just had his first bad season of his career and a lot of you guys are jumping on him. I think we've all been hoping that he was a fraud since he took over for Harbaugh, but I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt before we write him off as a hack.

I'm kind of sad that the pac-12 won't be playing this fall, because we could have joked about how Stanford is the only team in all of college football that won't be impacted by limited attendance due to COVID ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's absurd attrition. 16 dudes leaving is definitely worth a look into what the hell's going on with Stanford. Certainly a concern given how difficult it is to recruit freshmen into Stanford and maintain numbers and then also a concern given they can take 0 transfers in. I'm interested to see where this season goes for Stanford as they have virtually no depth at all on their roster.

Walker Little opted out. Isaiah Sanders, QB from Air Force, was a rare transfer in.

OL and DL are thin to say the least. As far as OL, Rouse, who started at LT for 11 games, would pair up with Sarrell. Hornbrook at OG started the last six. Starting Center Dalman is back. After that....six players played in a total of four games.

DL has four players and the four freshmen. One of the four DL returnees played in one game.

With Adebo and Little opting out, McKee returning from his mission, Scotty Edwards (Class of '20) going on a mission, and Ayden Hector's scholarship rescinded, I have Stanford at 80 scholarships. Isaiah Sanders, a QB transfer in from Air Force, is also counted. That also includes one walk-on who got a scholarship last year getting that renewed.

Stanford sometimes does not announce walkons given scholarships. Three of the incoming class are PWOs, with a number of upper classmen as PWOs, too.

Of the twenty-three players from the Class of 2016 who played last year, seven are returning for a fifth year.
