I’m not sure why there isn’t a thread yet for the Stanford postgame…but I had to watch the game on my phone at my son’s baseball game and I missed the 4th quarter after the delay…so I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the game. Here were some of my take-aways:
It’s downright criminal how under-utilized Jeremiyah Love is. 6 carries and 1 target is not enough. I like Price and am not saying he needs a lot less playing time. I just think we need to get the ball into Love’s hands more when he is on the field as he is the best player in this offense (no offense to future All American TE Pat Coogan).
I’d like to see the TE involved more. The TD to Raridon was an awesome playcall…but did Mitchell Evans see a single target?
Outside of that, I thought Denbrock called an excellent game overall.
Riley Leonard has made a lot of progress…especially with his willingness to go through his progressions to find somebody open. Early in the year he seemed to go with the first option every time, regardless of coverage.
I have seen enough of James Rendell. Thankfully the Irish only had to point one time, but that one point was 24 yards and set Stanford up for their score. It can be argued that Rendell has already cost the Irish a game with his awful punting in the NIU game. Will we have to wait until he costs the Irish another game before they make a change? I don’t know who else we have that can punt, but I’d hold an open competition if need be.
Why in the hell did they not review the Stanford TD??? He may have gotten in, but it seemed to be close enough to review.
Overall, the defense was dominant and the offense was efficient on the ground and through the air. I’m pretty happy with the big win! Go Irish!!!
