Zeke had him sealed
Then got thrown with one arm by an undersized young interior dlinemen

I know it's just one rep and I normally wouldn't care but Zeke has had a major issue of losing leverage and getting pushed/thrown back a couple yards and it just blows up the play. It happened a bunch in short yardages which is really really hard to understand because he's snapping and should be quickest off the ball in those instances.

I've read (cant remember from who) that Onye has kept him athleticism while adding all that weight, whereas Rubio has lost a little and has shown some more stiffness as he's begun to weigh over 300 pounds. It appears that the staff is maintaining their plan of having a prefered nose tackle that is on the lighter side, if it comes with athleticism.
Stretch stretch stretch!!!! Ha

O'Malley said Onye enrolled weighing roughly the same weight he is now but he was at 27+% body fat and is now at 12%. Total body recomposition and his athleticism has improved significantly.
He looked insanely built in the picture at the lax game

While you don't want to shuffle kids around, if his hands are suspect now is the time. He is an elite athlete and should not be squandered.

I wonder why they don't sway out Cross (to DT) and Rubio (to NT)?
It would make more sense if Styles could play safety. The CB room is strong and Styles could move the needle at safety.

Seriously wonder what the fallout will be if Buchner is the better looking QB in fall camp.
Even if buchner is flat out the better QB in practice we need hartman. I feel like even though he had some great plays, buchner vs SoCar has this deer in the headlights look still (that D was terrible) and just gets rattled forcing bad decisions. All fall camp last year freeman talked about how he doesn't turn the ball over and makes great decisions. Then 3 games, 3 pick 6's later. He's also high risk of injury.

I'm just not sold the lights aren't too big for him. Hopefully that changes or I'm wrong.

Meh...cross that bridge if we come to it. I chalk Spring ball up to Hartman being behind on learning the playbook (new OC, new QB coach) and also still meshing with the WR group. Buchner is progressing as we'd all hope. Hartman is still widely considered to be a Top 10 QB in the country. I don't see how Buchner passes him up, even with his gains in confidence and throwing ability. However, if Fall camp proves that Tyler has closed the gap, that's a great "problem" to have. May the best man win.

I would think none unless Hartman face plants.

I'm not surprised Tyler "looks" better. He has fantastic playmaking ability. But there is a big gap in consistency and decision making between him and Hartman.

Dude made his first ever start in a night game at Ohio State and it was fine. He came back in the bowl game after missing all season and was better than fine. Buchner makes mistakes but it's not because the lights are too big.

Either way, we need Hartman. Hartman should start. But I still think Buchner becomes a pretty good ballplayer before all is said and done. He's certainly not scared out there.

Yeah just my opinion. He definitely had a good start in the first half vs OSU. But second half, especially after falling behind, he looked rattled to me. I expected him to come out and explode vs Marshal, and it was instead vs bad QB play, again, to me looking rattled.

He definitely kept fighting vs SoCar despite his mistakes which is good. I don't think he's scared, I just think the game was moving too fast for him last year.

He did also play Marhsall - and that was not fine

(although I still think that wasn't his fault as much as first year coach that poured a ton of energy into OSU and the whole team slacked off, especially oline)
((also WRs were inept still at that time))

ICYMI they moved Coogan to LG this week. Rudolph made that call, implied he wasn't progressing at C. Doesn't sound like Carmody is getting reps.
Rudolph also talked about moving Baker to guard. New coach isn't thrilled with his guard play it would appear.
Sounds to me like we'll be fishing the portal for a guard.

Isn't Carmody injured?
before that he was "starting" (likely just a seniority move)
but Carmody would otherwise be in the two deep surely

I posted this earlier in the thread but Jamie U said that he was hearing Carmody was the best guard so far during Spring Camp. So, as surprising as that might be, I wouldn't chalk it up to just seniority.

I didn’t get that impression. Sounded fairly positive on Schrauth and Kristofic I thought
