One take away from O'Malley's instant analysis is he has Cross/Onye at NT and Rubio/Mills at DT. Either he was mistaken or that's an interesting twist. They speak with Washington today so maybe more clarity to come.

I don't really get moving Styles to corner, if that's the move. Corner is loaded. Safety is where ND needs help. Supposedly there will be a post-spring safety transfer in but still, there is a hole there.

I think both his skillset, body type, and the need say S. I would guess that they just want to see (get on film) how he moves for starters.

Styles to CB doesn't seem like a permanent move or anything. Was noted that he got reps at WR the rest of practice by ISD.

While you don't want to shuffle kids around, if his hands are suspect now is the time. He is an elite athlete and should not be squandered.

I wonder why they don't sway out Cross (to DT) and Rubio (to NT)?

Our LB play has been amazing in games last 2 years (sarcasm), why would a highly rated player with talent be frustrated struggling getting reps? I have no clue if this is the case, but it probably is. After the season Marist, Kiser, and JD had, even coupled with 21, it should have been an open competition, and it looks like practice rep wise it hasn't been.

Kiser was a senior last year and struggled at times. JD was a senior last year and played ok but definitely bad in coverage downfield and blitzing (solid in coverage on screens/short passes). Marist was a senior last year and had a really bad year.

It's great to have good experience at the position, but those 3 hardly made any plays last year, especially with a ton of opportunities blitzing.

If Kollie can't get PT with what has been put on tape the last 2 years from the LB position he's either at the wrong place or not good enough.

Again, I have no clue what's going on, but either way. It seems like we're rolling with the same 3 from last year that struggled big time. How the heck did Marist lead the team in defensive snaps last year. Everyone knows how bad he played. I don't get it. He blitzed so much and only had half a sack. He averaged 4 tackles a game while playing 50 snaps a game at LB.

Kollie's absence was due to a class obligation per ISD.

Fairly common occurrence in the spring.

I'm betting on the former. The Ivy league has recently produced some good linemen afterall; who's to say that a Princeton-headed prospect wouldn't have been one of them?

Murphy and Spindler are not playing the same position. Murphy is at LG and Spindler’s at RG.

I've read (cant remember from who) that Onye has kept him athleticism while adding all that weight, whereas Rubio has lost a little and has shown some more stiffness as he's begun to weigh over 300 pounds. It appears that the staff is maintaining their plan of having a prefered nose tackle that is on the lighter side, if it comes with athleticism.

O'Malley said Onye enrolled weighing roughly the same weight he is now but he was at 27+% body fat and is now at 12%. Total body recomposition and his athleticism has improved significantly.

That is quite true. He was listed at 289 as a freshman on the season roster, but he signed with ND in the 260-270 range on ESD, December 2020. He put on a lot of weight quickly before entering ND. He needed some time to get his body right and his technique developed.

Now, he's looking like a legitimate option in the two-deep. Quite nice progress I must say.

Is Ziegler still at LB and moving past Kollie? It always seems like the gritty dudes make it at Lb and the highly ranked recruits go no where.
