QB coaches talk about accuracy and decision making. Of course accuracy assumes consistency.

That game for Buch was similar to a lot of Ian Book's wins where you can say, we wouldn't have won without them. At the same time, for much or some of the game they are also the reason the game was so close. We won and Buch showed some real growth during it. That's exciting.

Buch playing fast and loose this Spring Ball is also exciting. There is no downside, unless he's so good he wants to start immediately elsewhere.

We're just going to conveniently ignore the stark difference in OLine play from September on? Got it.

And as frustrating as a few of the plays Buchner made in the Gator Bowl were, there were also more than enough dynamic plays that showcased his abilities, plays that Pyne was never capable of making. He put on full display how high his ceiling is in the Bowl game. And one of those mistakes, the INT at the goal line, was more on Rees for dialing up that play call in that situation. He knows better than anyone whether or not his QB has sound decision making, and we were absolutely pounding the rock on that tired defense at that point in the game.

I agree with you that Hartman should and likely will start, but the Pyne > Buchner theory is an absolute joke of a take.
In reality, Buchner had made some really dynamic plays, but for a young QB early in his career he has made some God awful decisions and thrown an inordinate number of pick 6’s as a result of bad accuracy and worse decision making. Dynamic or not, he is not a very good QB to this point in his career, regardless of the myriad of reasons why. I hope that changes this year, but many a potentially dynamic qb’s have had their careers stall out because they never developed their accuracy or ability to take care of the football. Plus he hasnt proven he can stay healthy yet either. More questions than answers when it comes to Buchner and I think that is the cause for concern for many.

Yeah I can’t figure this board out. Seems like some kind of dork d&d nd cult that is infatuated with ripping Kelly and pumping up Buchner to odd levels, that he hasn’t proven.

The takes on this site get weirder by the day. Prime college Tebow would have made last years ND team significantly better.
Doubtful, Tebow was one heck of an athlete no doubt, but force him to throw? Who would he have thrown to last year? Tommy was forcing things to Mayer for a reason.

Pretty sweet throw by Minchey. All depends how quickly he can make his reads but the talent is there.

So, I'm just getting around to watching this. I didn't know what to make of the Carmody starting with the 1's, prior to getting injured (still haven't heard how serious that is/was) but Jamie says that he was hearing Carmody was the "best guard" this Spring. I did not have that on my bingo card. And, if true, hopefully he comes back soon.

Carmody is pretty darn talented. Just stuck behind two monsters at tackle. If the goal is to get the best five on the field, it doesn't surprise me that they give him a look at guard. Anyone now how serious his injury was?

Wasn't Carmody the first frosh in at LT when the shit hit the fan early in '21? And acquitted himself in a decent manner until getting hurt? Or was he bad and I'm just traumatized from a recent history of early-season shuffling/injuries/underwhelming play?

You are right. He had a mullet and looked good. Then he got hurt and Alt eventually looked down the spot.

Any word on Baker?

I'd love for him to stick around till next year when we lose Alt and possibly BFish. Not sure how realistic that is... Or if he is even any good.

An uninjured Carmody is REAL good. When I heard the defensive player say that Schrauth was the oncoming reserve Olineman, I thought, Wow, with him and Carmody replacing our two seniors, we're still going to be damm good. AND we have Kristovic on top of that.

When I thought that by the way, I assume what's usually a good OLine assumption that experienced players like Fisher and Correll are going to get a leap between years (Alt doesn't need one, but even he will improve.) ND should have at a minimum 6 really good OLinemen this season for five spots. Knowing our recruiting, we'll probably have ten.

The offensive line could be really good, but that doesn’t mean zeke is. He improved last year but he improved off an awful start. He just gets blown up too easy

Zeke and Lugg were clearly the weakness of the oline last year.

He was. In fact, it felt like consensus was he was playing better than Baker. However, since then he was virtually a non-factor last year and his weight seems like an anomaly of sorts.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s because he’s that good or because everyone else is that average/bad.
