Situation at Chiefs practice facility

Apparently a player has killed himself and his girlfriend. No name has been released.

I live in Kansas City and hadn't seen that yet. Apparently the first shooting was at a home at 8:00 AM (the girlfriend), then a short time later at the practice facility (the player most likely). However, they aren't releasing the player's name yet on Kansas City's Best Source for News, Weather, Sports & More | KansasCity.com.

Someone in the comments section there said that they heard it was Jovan Belcher.

It is being said it is Jovan Belcher (starting middle linebacker). Apparently he did it front of teamates or coaches. This is terrible news. RIP and condolences to his family and her's.

Murder Suicide rumored to involve KC Chiefs' Jovan Belcher
A double shooting involving a Kansas City Chiefs player is under investigation by police on Dec. 1, 2012.

No names have been released, but early reports indicate that KC Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher may have shot his girlfriend and then committed suicide.

Details are still very unclear in this breaking story, but KCTV5 reports that shooting was reported at approximately 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue and a second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility.

Officials tell KCTV5 that the Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend. He then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.

Speculation on Twitter continues this morning with several tweets that the dead Chiefs player is Jovan Belcher. Police have not confirmed this information.

Apparently the coaches tried to calm him down in the parking lot but he shot himself anyway.

If it was Belcher, he and his girlfriend had recently had a baby. Unbelievably sad. Prayers for the family involved, especially the baby, and the coaches who had to witness that.

Belcher aparently "thanked" Pioli and Crennel outside practice facility before turning gun on self.

very tragic situation and while we will never be able to understand the rationale for doing this kind of harm, i dont get why the afflicted person has to involve others like that if indeed he did this in front of teammates and her family....

life is difficult, sometimes the dark shadows wreck havoc on your mind. Way too many innocent lives affected by this. God bless the families and may the souls of the deceased be judged with mercy and forgiveness
