I was too. Their QB was Erik Ainge. His shoulder was injured before half on a hit by ND that I believe caused the errant pass that Goolsby returned for a TD. Rick Clausen came in relief & couldn’t muster any offense. ND held on to win in a defensive battle. The following week ND dropped a winnable game to Pitt & then got blow out (again) by SC. Ty was fired. ND was called racist for firing him. 2005 was fun but short lived.
Pretty sure Ainge was hurt on an errant snap right before half. The Goolsby pick six was against their back up

That’s right. I think it was Justin Tuck who hit him.
Some of you guys have amazing memories, though it's more understandable for those of you who were at the game. Those memories tend to get burned into our brains for better or worse.

I was thinking, why the hell do i remember that? Maybe because it was a highlight from a bad season.
Sure was. Imagine going 6-5 w/ two wins over top 10 opponents. Just talked to some Hog fans this morning. They just want a house cleaning. Get rid everyone from the AD down. They see an entire culture of losing. But they did laugh and say “Beating ND after the last two losses would be the most Sam Pittman thing ever”.

If Moore and Smith are NOT back I'd like to see ND do a little more tempo to increase the possessions within the game. I know we went into the season expecting the D to be really good, it has no chance without moore, but our offense may be better than expected. I certainly think our offense is better than any we play (even USC) and now that Freeman/Denbrock know what they have in Carr it should be dynamic.

NDs opponents are averaging over 7 plays a game more than ND (blocked punt and KO return hurt that stat). ND has depth on O and D (just not corner) to handle more plays and possessions IMO. That would give ND a better chance to outscore opponents.

If Moore and Smith are not back for Arkansas the ND offense may need to score 40 again.

If Zackery is playing all game I don't know how we help him and slow them down. Zackery is just flat out not ready to be playing. Golden is though. Only chance with him in is to get pressure on Green while containing the read option and his outside scrambles.

I’m not ready to sell out Zackery yet, but I agree that he’s the least ready of the bunch. I wish we had gone for Hobbs as an outside corner to begin with. Maybe he struggled there like he has in the slot, but having experienced depth at the position always matters

Setting aside his technique, I was amazed at how physically overmatched Hobbs looked. We were led to believe that he was a burner. He's very stiff in the way that he moves.

Beautiful morning here in Fayetteville.
Yes it is. I left there around 8 am and am now back in central Arkansas.

If you have time, go by Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville. It’s free & it’s one of the top 10 museums in the world.

I sure hope this is some gamesmanship and Moore will be back. Smith back helps, but that would just mean we're 2 deep at nickel db, and we still don't have a field corner.

Not knowing if moore is playing or not forces arkansas to have two plans. A&M just stayed away from moore especially after the pick (even after injury) and targeted hobbs and gray. Right now, Arkansas is planning to target zackery, but if moore plays that changes their plan to target golden/smith and gray.

Blake is a good WR and zackery has no chance covering him, but I don't think he's as good/athletic as the two A&M WRs.

It would be nice to see what this D can do with a healthy moore and smith, if that allows for "moore" blitzing/disruption on 3rd down because you're confident moore and smith can hold up in man.

I'd be shocked if Moore is back. Questionable has typically meant you're not playing. I wouldn't be surprised if they held him out until NC St. or USC to give him a good 4-5 week recovery from a high ankle sprain.

Agree. I'll be surprised if he plays. High ankle sprains don't heal quickly.

If both were played today, we’d be favored less @ Arkansas than at home against SC, meaning this is on paper our hardest remaining game.

They’ll play him if he can actually contribute.

If he can't go he can't go, but to me this is our most difficult game until USC, so if he doesn't play this weekend he probably doesn't play until then.

He played minutes after his injury happened. None of it adds up, in my opinion.

I know it’s not the same but back in the day I sprained my PCL, went back in after halftime (obviously not the same abilities as before the injury but still went back in)). The next day I couldn’t walk and missed the next two weeks. People can play through injury in the moment with adrenaline. If there is one thing I will not question is that young man’s competitiveness and willingness to play.

Where were all these high ankle sprains back in the 70’s and 80’s?! wtf?! Plus recovery time? Is it the size and speed of the game now or the surfaces? We lost key players last year (Morrison and Mills). I actually think we win it all if both were 100% healthy. Hope Moore is back and not at 75%. Let’s hope the experience DBs are getting turns into playing at another level. No excuse for shitty tackling. Cost us two games all by itself.

The 1995 USA Today All American Offensive Line was collectively bigger than the 1980 NFL All Pro Offensive Line.

Now fast forward 30 years to 2025 and ask yourself the question again.

On top of that, the players in the 70s and 80s were enabled by coaches, doctors and trainers to play hurt if not injured, which was and still is glorified for whatever reasons you can fathom on your own free time.

Shit happens to a high ankle sprain when you take your shoe off and sleep on it
Was it confirmed as a high ankle? If so, Moore probably wont be 100% till next year. That just lingers.
