This game feels like NC State in 2023. I think it will play out in a similar fashion, although I think Green is three times the player Armstrong was.

In my opinion, the game largely depends on whether we play vs Arkansas "1st half Memphis" ---> hard tough battle, or Arkansas "second half Memphis" ---> easy cruise. Their performance was at least as peculiar as ours has been.

Feels like 2004 Tennessee to me except the roles are reversed. In that game ND was reeling under Willingham. After a season opening loss to BYU they upset top 10 scUM but then returned to the mean by losing to mediocre teams. A lot of Irish fans were expecting Fulmer & his top 10 unit to put ND out of their misery. Instead, ND pulls the upset (thanks Mike Goolsby!) and ND records their second win over a top 10 team that season. Instead of using that as a launching pad to a 8-3 regular season they dropped their final two games to finish 6-5 & Willingham was fired.

A lot of Hog fans are where ND fans were back then…“just let us keep losing until he’s fired”. Other than pride, this game means nothing to UA b/c it’s an OOC game. If they beat ND, they will continue to follow 2004 ND’s script & lose most of their remaining games until Pittman is fired.

I was at that 2004 game in Knoxville. Tennessee’s QB was injured in the first half and sidelined in the first half if I recall correctly.

I’d feel very good about this game if Moore / Devonta were playing. The line would also be 7-8 if that was the case.

I was too. Their QB was Erik Ainge. His shoulder was injured before half on a hit by ND that I believe caused the errant pass that Goolsby returned for a TD. Rick Clausen came in relief & couldn’t muster any offense. ND held on to win in a defensive battle. The following week ND dropped a winnable game to Pitt & then got blow out (again) by SC. Ty was fired. ND was called racist for firing him. 2005 was fun but short lived.

Both coordinators have some opportunities to right the wrongs of the Miami game.

On offense, their best defender is a 275 pound edge rusher. Sound familiar? They have to have a different answer for that if Knapp/Wagner struggle again.

On defense, besides the other issues, another beefy OL, though not as good, against our undersized DL. How do we get pressure?

If we have the lead at halftime, we roll.
If it's a one score game at halftime, we win.
If it's a multi score game at halftime, we come back to tie, only to lose on the last drive.

you cant be too reliant on stunts with a mobile QB he will simply walk up the middle for easy yards

True, but I'm assuming Bowen, Sneed, KVA, etc aren't standing around with their thumbs in their asses

I was at that game. Please don’t let there be another hour or so lightning delay!

Speaking of which, does anybody else feel like CFB has had an abnormal amount of weather delays this year??

I'm real curious to see how Arkansas plays. There were posts on a couple forums that Petrino is already working behind the scenes to get the HC job. That can't be good for morale if true.

Lou's going to be there. Maybe he can swing by and get you.
Yup, heard the ND Alumni Club of Arkansas (it exists!) is hosting him.

On Monday, the Little Rock Touchdown Club featured Tim Brown & I heard he was awesome. Talked about how most of his ND teammates are CEOs or business owners vs ex-football players. Really pushed the difference between ND student-athlete & football factory student-athlete.

Also shared great stories on his recruitment. I was told one was when his HS principal saw him walking home & offered him ride to his house. Principal was an SMU alum & ran the scoreboard at their home games. Instead of taking Tim home, he took him to football offices at SMU. They were just getting into the sales pitch (I think it was HC Ron Meyer?) before someone burst into office to say a reporter was there to see them. They rushed Tim into a broom closet but he could hear everything. He said he thought it was the reporter who ultimately exposed their pay for play schemes & he heard the SMU staff insist that they never pay players. LOL!

Yes, while it was vehemently denied this morning, the rumor is Bobby P is already working the phones insisting that he’d be more than happy to steer the ship if they chose to relieve Pittman of his duties. Douche

We’ll never get the truth. Remember the “motorcycle accident”. Most believe his scrapes & bruises were from the young intern’s fiancé beating the shit out of Bobby.

Something I had completely forgot…Chris Ash was DC at Arkansas for one season. It was 2013 & the Hogs finished 3-9. Then Urban hired him at OSU to be co-DC. The more that I see Ash’s defenses at ND, the more I think the 2014 NC defense was an anomaly on his resume & credit probably goes to Fickell and the insane talent that Meyer recruited.

I use to work with a guy that was an Arkansas booster. Per him, they were on his motorcycle. They stopped and switched places because she wanted to try to ride it. She dumped it. They were trying to keep it quiet because he didn't want his wife to find out.
