Likewise. You’re the creep that drools over his “fit” despite the fact that we’re getting drilled by NIU and and a dogfight against Miami of Ohio. You can do whatever you like I suppose.
Holy hyperbole Batman. We beat Miami by 25. That's not a dogfight. Could there by improvements? Especially by the QB? 100%. Also, losing by two points is not "getting drilled". Bullshit loss and embarrassing for sure, but you're reaching for those extremes brother.Likewise. I mean to be fair we were in a dogfight—it was just moreso against ourselves. Miami just also happened to be on the field at the same time.Holy hyperbole Batman. We beat Miami by 25. I agree on all fronts. I don't think Freeman's got the chest to switch Leonard mid-game though. Incoming 17-14 dog fight.I don’t think this win was as bad as you guys want to think. If our 25 point win was 42-17 instead, would that have been satisfying? Defense allowed 220 yards & 3 points all day.
It wasn’t perfect, but I think Riley gained some confidence and made some nice throws, especially after the first quarter. We just can’t ignore his ability as a runner. Considering he was a great runner against Texas A&M who was the toughest defensive opponent will play all year, you can’t say “this isn’t going to work against better teams”. It did work, it is going to continue to work as long as he’s healthy.
That being said, if he can’t complete the easy throws in 3 to 4 drives against Louisville. Then I think we’ll need to make a change. Weird spot we’re in.
damn, as a fellow public employee, this hits. never a lineman tho lolI had a moment of clarity somewhere between beer 7 and 8 and realized this:
All of us who love this team and program and university really have nothing to lose by yanking Leonard in favor of Angeli, et al.
MFMF has his livelihood and likely his coaching future at stake. Obviously he’s going to, at this point, roll with Leonard and has accepted his fate as he thinks it gives the team the best chance to win. He’s banking that RL’s leadership and experience trump Angeli’s ability to complete successive forward passes. Alright, fine.
I disagree, but I make a solid five figures as a public employee and am a former average offensive lineman and offensive line coach/defensive coordinator. I made four figures a year at the height of my coaching career.
I guess for my mental sanity I’ll just root for the team and root for RL to figure some shit out, because outside of injury (which if you ever root for a dude to get injured, fuck you) we’re probably not getting Angeli. Or Minchey. Or Carr. Or Buchner.
I think the main cause of epic frustration is this is like 6 season in a row that it has been a garbage passing offence. Then you flick over to another game and passes are getting made all over the place.I don’t think this win was as bad as you guys want to think. Personally, I don’t think he’s a stud at all. I think he’d give the offense more balance. And, I think we’ll need that to give ourselves a shot.I also think Angeli must not be the stud We think he is in practice. He looked very pedestrian in the spring game, and is very obviously the fourth most physically gifted quarterback on the roster.
Correction. This is a flawed team. This is a Shit Team
Respectfully, you keep saying it worked against A&M. It worked as good as Florida’s offense did against A&M. 5.6 yds/play is not a good mark. If that was the offense for every game this season, it’d put ND in a tie for 58th nationally. For all of last season, 53rd.I don’t think this win was as bad as you guys want to think. You don't need to convince most of us. Anyone who is watching with their eyes open sees that RL is severely handicapping the offense. Big congrats on him throwing his 1st TD of the season (in game 4) and all, but he's an absolute burden. Not being any good with reads and medium-to-deep passes is one thing, but not being able to make short passes either is just unforgivable. For perspective, I believe BGSU is averaging 7yds/play against A&M, as we speak.
