Not sure where all the Duke love is coming from. We have the personel to go toe to toe with Duke. They have one person who is a star and that is River's. Everyone else is okay. Even if they beat ND or Xavier, Duke isn't getting past the sweet 16. I agree with Lax, I wouldn't want to be matched up with any other 2 seed at this point.

I am an ND and Duke grad and have watched every televised game (ESPN3) included for both teams.

I don't think that ND gets to Duke, in all honesty. As for the Duke argument, much like ND if they hit the outside shot, they can be lethal. They do defend much better than ND does, but have the same inside issues as ND does. They are vulnerable to any inside game...the Plumlee brothers aren't the best defenders (it would actually be fun to watch Cooley battle them inside). The biggest issue for ND would be guarding Rivers (unless we go to a 2-3 zone). Atkins would be tasked with that, which could cause his offense to struggle (he was short on everything against USF as he had to defend the point).

In a dream world, I get to see ND and Duke slug it out.

My favorite thing is that Michigan is playing Ohio University. Michigan fans are finally going to have to confront the fact that there IS an "Ohio" and it ISN'T Ohio State. Morons.

hah... They know who they are, but their arrogance doesn't allow for them to acknowledge them. They really haven't been relevant since Gary Trent but in the tournament, anything is possible.

But why would Michigan be arrogant towards Ohio University? That doesn't even make sense. I know you're right, but its so nonsensical, that's why it bugs me so much. It is the stupidest thing I've come across in sports.

It's not even clever. ND has nicknames for other schools like "University of Spoiled Children", "scUM", "Backup College", but they're mostly in good fun and not all-pervading throughout the fanbase like "Ohio" is in the scUM fanbase. I really believe Fred Flintsone forgot to say "state university" after the "ohio" and those dimwits picked it up and ran with it. I mean, there's another school named Ohio University, for pete's sakes. That's why I'm thinking about calling them Michigan State-Ann Arbor.

Kony is a bad dude- almost as bad as the representation of truth in the fiction/documentary/youtube video that has made him famous: KONY 2012.

10 years ago, the LRA in Uganda would have been important news.

As for ND, I'm thinking one win in the tourney has to be considered a successful season. They're good enough to beat Duke, but only if they catch fire.

Despite earning a No. 1 seed in this year's NCAA tournament, Syracuse now faces an uphill battle in their quest for a national title.

The Orange (31-2) announced on their website Tuesday that sophomore center Fab Melo will not participate in the tournament due to an "eligibility issue.

"Given University policy and federal student privacy laws, no further details can be provided at this time," the site said.

So Ohio State and Florida State are now clear favorites to make it out of that region.

You go to Butler (right?) what seed are you in the tourney?

Oh wait

You act like 1) Butler still didn't go on the greatest run for any mid-major ever and that having one down year will erase it and 2) I'm actually going to be cheering for Xavier, the most despicable basketball program in the country. I'm picking them in my bracket, but I'll root for Notre Dame. I'm just saying what I think about the game. I think that Xavier is going to step up for this game since they do tend to get up for the biggest games, and ND is kind of going in on a slump. I prefer to take the hot teams which is why I have FSU and Michigan State in my Final Four.

I think it's interesting that ND was projected to be a 5 or 6 and Xavier was projected to be an 11 or 12. This should be a matchup, but it should be different seeds.

Baylor will destroy us. But we can totally beat Duke and Xavier. Unreal that UNC and Michigan State got #1 seeds over Missouri. That's just wrong on so many levels.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. They're all really good teams, but Missouri has been phenomenal all year.

You guys did have two good years, I'll give you that good job.

Seriously are we your biggest rivals. I thought you would have someone else?

UC, Dayton, and other major schools that we have to deal with.

I actually used to not mind Butler. You guys still dont bother me.

But good luck joining the A 10 were not quite the ACC or Big East but your stepping into bigger boy basketball

Good post. And this is exactly why I give ND a ~60% chance of victory. I actually expected a matchup like this but as a 6 v 11. I mean people are seriously scared of a team coming off a loss to 14 seed St. Bonaventure? A game in which they were handled pretty easily by the Bonnies? When I really sat back and looked at it.... this is not a bad draw. Not a bad draw at all.

You knew we were going to end up playing a #2 or #3 seed in the 2nd round... that means Duke, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas, Baylor, Marquette, Georgetown, or Florida State. We are an awful matchup with Kansas, Missouri, Georgetown, Baylor, Ohio State, and Florida State. We are an OK matchup with Marquette. We are a good matchup with Duke... who is not good defensively inside and, overall, ranks somewhere around #161 in overall effective defense. They have an off night shooting the 3 and we have a good night we can win... it's really that simple. With every other team we would need more luck than that to get a W.
