Ok the season isapproaching so how many games do you think Notre Dame will win this year. Let everyone know why as well.

10-2. We lose one we shouldn't. Maybe Stanford.

Or, we beat USC and go undefeated.

i feel the exact same way. Hopin for the latter, but the former is much more realistic.

I said 10-2. That is kool-aid induced. I'm counting on the new coaches being huge improvements. And Weis having a clue at running the offense for the first time in a few years.

Weis can only call the plays that he knows his team can execute.

Weis can only call the plays that he knows his team can execute.

Then explain the endless array of screen passes and draw plays that always ended in disaster. We sure could execute those.

Just remember, play-action on 4th and 1 against Pitt.

10-2 is a realistic prediction, this team controls its own destiny. They can go 12-0 but with youth all around 10-2 seems likely.

who picked 7 or 8? i cant imagine looking forward to a season thinking we will go 7 or 8 wins.

and yea you can call it "realistic" or "youre not drinking the koolaid" but jeez man if you cant even have some fun and believe in your team, than what can you believe in??

10-2 is most definitely attainable, and that's what I predicted. Why?

1. More veterans all around. Look at what CW did the last time we had veterans. And I think, as a group, that this team is more talented. The question is can JC be a Quinn like leader and put up Quinn-like numbers?

2. New coaches. Jappy Oliver was a weal link, as was Latina. The 2 new replacements are getting raves, as is Alford. Development at the college level is HUGE, and I think our players will get more of it now.

3. The schedule, while not as easy as being reported, certainly plays in our favor.

4. Talent. We're loaded at many key areas.

I could go on and on. Bottom line, it's put up or shut up time for CW. He gets that. We'll now see if he can really coach. I believe in him; we all better b/c if he fails ND football will be set back for a couple of years at least IMO.

One more thing on Weis. Today I was watching a show about the 2003 Patriots. They showed Weis, after watching his offense complain and bitch about the snow and other things, get in the faces of all those superstars, including Tom Brady, and curse them the fu** out. It was fantastic and had me pumped up. He said something like: "I'm tired of watching all you play like shit! (etc etc, more yelling). Now stop complaining and shut the fu** up!!! (then he turned to Tom Brady) YOU INCLUDED!!!" Now that's the CW I want to see this year! Take the gloves off and start motivating some kids! It's now or never CW!!!

LOL, weren't people complaining about Weis being too hard on the players. I agree that the team will be improved, especially on offense because of age and experience. Not saying thattheywill be as productive as the 05 team, but will certianly move the ball better and cut down on mistakes. The one position that worries me is D-line, because unlike the o-line we have no past experience to grow from. The one thing that makes me optimistic though is the team's attitude. In past years the team seemed lost or unsure of themselves in interviews. This year the team seems very confident. The guys might not come out and say it, but in interviews with EJ, B Smith, Hayseed, Crist and Clausen, all seemed very cinfident in how the team will perform this year. That is a big factor IMO

Im not that close to the situation. Just a spectator from my couch. I watched that Americas Game 2003 Patriots on NFL network. I like CW I dont think hes the kind of coach who changes his approach. This is a guy who is true to himself. We went through growing pains the last two years but the team last year was a few plays away from 10-3. If they hit that record last year undefeated predictions wouldnt be that far fetched. A couple more balls bounce our way and were winning everygame this year. Its alot to be excited about. If we go back to running screens to the halfback and recievers and then go over the top with a decent running game like we did in 05 and 06 its going to be great. So as someone who has little idea what hes talking about im saying we beat everybody on our schedule and make it to the national championship in one of the greatest turnaround stories in sports history! BOOM!

i'm saying 11 wins and there will be less pacing throughout the house as ND finally figures it out.

I said 10, just because I think will lose a close one to SC and slip up somewhere else, probably on the road. I'll take a 10-2 record with a BCS bowl though

However, I will also be applying the rule of 2 this year.

Subtract 2 wins for Lou Holtz's total, and add 2 to Mark May's total, and you probably have an accurate prediction

I said 12-0. I dont think it is gonna happen, I think we are gonnna go 11-1. However, I think the USC game is the game of the year in all of football. I think we beat them, and then maybe lose one we shouldnt.

I said 12-0 only because I will never, EVER pick my team to lose under any circumstances. Every game I played personally, I never predicted or anticipated a loss. I expect to win every time out. Does being what some call "realistic" and predicting losses make one a better fan? I don't think so, in my opinion. I don't care who we play or what condition our team is in, I will pull for the W no matter what.

I went with 10-2. I feel like we will lose a tough one to USC and then drop the ball out in Palo Alto. In my opinion the loss to Stanford will cost us a BCS bowl. I would be perfectly content to play Florida State/Ga. Tech/UNC/ Va. Tech in the Gator Bowl. This prediction is based on a much improved running game, Clausen's development, a nasty D, and a vastly improved special teams outfit.

No way we lose to Stanford. NO WAY. I am calling my shot right now - we will win in Palo Alto by 17+ points. I will be in attendance, as I usually am, and the Irish will slaughter the stupid ass dancing trees as they usually do. There are never any Stanford fans in the stands on Thanksgiving weekend. They have all gone home. Every time I go to this game, it is mostly Irish fans there.

BTW - I am planning on putting together a little tailgate for all my West Coast IE breathren who want to travel up to the Bay Area. I will be heading up from Orange County on Friday.

Even before you had said that about the tailgate, as I was reading your 1st paragraph I thought that it would be cool to do that. Not saying I can yet, logistically speaking, but that would be freaking great. We're going back for the USC game, but the Stanford game would be awesome as well. After dealing recently with some Stanford alum, I HATE THEM WITH A FREAKING PASSION! I've never met a bunch of more entitled fans (as if their team has ever been relevant consistently) in my life. At least USC is good. Stanford sucks, and they RIP ND as if Stanford is great or something. Unreal.

We'll talk more as the season progresses OC, but if my lady is down (she knows an alum up there), we'll definitely seriously look into it. And no, we will NOT lose to Stanford (I couldn't handle it!)...

Minor threadjack: One of my fondest ND football memories was at Stanford stadium in '93. At the old Stanford stadium, the players had to walk a long way from the locker rooms to the stadium. It was cool to see the team walk over in a long line and hear the sound of the cleats and see the helmets in the sun. Anyway, this particular year, I was fortunate enough to be standing out where the teams file in to the stadium and watch Bill Walsh lead the Cardinal and then here comes Lou leading the Irish. I was too stupid and didn't take a single picture (back in the day before cell phone cameras). Cool memory to see those two coaches lead their teams in.

If you are down for the tailgate in Palo Alto, that would be awesome! I will keep you posted as we get closer to the game. We IE Loyalists here on the West Coast need to take advantage of California games and this is usually a really cool one to go see.

Wouldn't be a party without you, my friend. I won't necessarily eat you, but venison will be on the menu. Will that bring back painful memories of your mom?

I voted 10-2.

I think they lose 2 games this year - USC and 1 of the following (BC, Mich St., Stanford)
