Compete betrayal, the US has gone full bad guy

Your side was in power the past four years and tried all the wonderful things you believe in and didn't do any of the bad stuff mean ol' Trump is doing... and were a complete and utter shitshow of corruption and dishonesty and ineptitude with the economy, inflation, foreign policy, Afghanistan, the Palestinians, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, jobs, race relations, culture, and every other area. So why are you, supporter of the worst president in US history and all his many failures and disasters, flapping your gums all day every day advocating for the same nonsense that was an abysmal failure and criticizing the winner who's fixing your guys disaster? Seriously? What makes you think anyone values your childish, losing ideas? Where do you think you have a speck of credibility? Be quiet and stop boring everyone with your daily nonsense and temper tantrums.

Glad they are increasing it and using it. I answered the question. Stop being a dunce and trying to disagree with the fact that I am correct.

They already did that. This will be an increase.

Well if Russia hadn't invaded we wouldn't be here at all..maybe Trump and the US could team up on the increased aid and go after Russia for the pay back.
What a brilliant observation, but the fact of the matter is they did and we got involved. So, my point is still very much valid.

No it's really not because if they increase aid, we sustain ours, maybe we could push Russia back together.

Instead we are suspending ours....so, if you are really on the side of Ukraine here you should be applauding the EU and supporting our aid being restored so as to push Russia back.

Instead...crickets from you regarding Trump's abandonment.

Safe to say we can mark you down as another Russia supporter?

I don’t necessarily disagree with this, but why can’t anyone answer this? The general consensus on this board is that Russia is already depleted and soon won’t be able to continue. I’d like to know when everyone thinks it will be?
Cal, Toronto, Bua & Prospector................When do you think this will happen, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years, longer?

I don't think they are depleted yet I do think they have lost far more than they thought going into their 3 day war. I think they are on their way to ruining their economy due to manpower shortage. But I'm also not a political scientist/expert like others on this board seem to be, so everything is my opinion.

Can you point to where I said Russia is already depleted?

If I'm going to comment on this, what metrics would you like me to comment on? Also, please give us your position with preferred metrics included too.

Just generally speaking about the "reality" of how these last several days have made me feel about the world: I can't recall for quite some time all this amount of talk about war and going to war and threatening WWIII, and it all coming from SEVERAL sides in the geopolitical landscape including my own country. How is this supposed to be improving my quality of life, my "peace of mind", even my hope for a better more spiritual caring world? I'll refuse to blame anyone (at this moment anyway), just note that (whoever/whatever is responsible), this atmosphere is BAD (and I'm no amateur --- I've studied the China situation, the Taiwan situation, the Ukraine situation, etc etc etc and I "get" the issues geopolitically and economically) the feeling surrounding all of these things has gotten much "darker."

One thing that my reading of the workings of government taught me, and to a great deal RELAXED me, was that politicians of all degrees of sanity (basically all) would say stupid things in public, right up to sabre rattling, but everyone in the real diplomatic game understood not to take any of it too seriously, as these peacocks were always talking to their bases and not one another. After the big ego get-re-elected popinjays would shut up, then the deep levels of the professional diplomatic communities could privately begin real talking and negotiating, and the rancor would be moderated. This is beginning to feel different.

What is bothering me is the downward reach of the executive branch here to fire not only the titular heads of agencies, but dig down much deeper into the career professionals, who are the ones who know what really goes on, and often have long-term relationships with their counterparts. In the past, I've felt that once the men on the platform shut up and went on to the next shouting match, the career people would return to the bigger global vision and quiet the decibels. I got relaxed then because I could (essentially always in recent decades) reflect back on the hugely powerful global economy and its vital country-to-country dependencies to make war unthinkable in any serious extent (even Taiwan which is the most nervy location. This is why the colossal interdependency of US and Chinese companies has been so vital to the peace we do have, and why there even is still a Taiwan). Damaging the deep agency professionals is stealing this assurance from me. Shouting about wars might not have the balance of calmer expert workers in the trenches.

I'm really hating this. And I don't care who "caused" it because EFF that --- what I need is for the erosion of our pragmatic personnel professional strength to stop. Chop off heads? All admins do that do pass out political favors. Reach down and fire lifetime professionals? Feels like really foolish lobotomy.

I, personally, would keep sending it as long as Ukraine wants to fight and Russia keeps bleeding and/or Putin catches a stray bullet/accidentally falls out of a 5 story building.
They don’t want to fight which is why they have a huge desertion problem. They have no ground troops and now Macron is talking about nukes. Europe may not be around this time next year. Keyboard geniuses here sitting on their recliner. Another $300 billion in taxpayer money won’t get that Ukraine land back as long as no one wants to fight for them.

Don’t hurt yourself taking down that strawman argument. It shouldn’t cost billions? Says who? You? We spend 6-7 trillion a year as a country. We’ve spent, depending on your source 100-300 billion in Ukraine over 3 years.

Maybe I’m old school, but spending that small a percentage of our annual budget to deter a murderous thug from taking over a sovereign country in the biggest European conflict since WW2 seems like a pretty small price to pay.
There is no strawman. Yes, in my opinion it would not be advisable for the US to BORROW MONEY to fund another country's war. We are $36 trillion in debt and the US defense budget is for the US, not the entire world. If this war drags on for another 5 years (I hope it doesn't) and we keep sending Ukraine loads of cash (Trump won't), that billions you mention will turn into trillions.

Ukraine was the nation invaded but make no mistake, Zelensky is a dictator who cancelled an election. He's not the modern day Winston Churchill.

Depends on the nature of the conflict and with whom, but I wouldn't put it past Xi though. If Taiwan (or the US) hits Three Gorges Dam, Taipei's got about 15 minutes until it's vaporized

Empty talk when the GOPs own budget adds trillions to deficit.

Zelensky didn't unilaterally cancel elections. The elections are postponed while Martial Law is in effect, and as of the last vote for extension of Martial law, there were zero members of the Ukrainian parliament (in either party) that voted against the extension
